If he doesn't get LU job, I think he goes to Alabama.
Oh ballcoach, always good for a chuckle. Breaking news 6 hours ago.

I’m all in on this hire.

Jesus disciples asked how many times should we forgive, seven? Jesus says seventy times seven.

Hugh Freeze went to his community group, pastor and wife and confessed his sin.

ONE YEAR LATER, news of his sin became public knowledge and he was fired. At that point he had already repented and asked forgiveness a year prior to the people he biblically was supposed to, his family and his faith family.

Forgiveness is the heart of God. Hugh did what he was supposed to biblically to seek forgiveness.

Remember what Jesus said to the woman caught in Adultery? She was dragged before Jesus, most likely naked, probably no more than 5 minutes removed from her sin. Jesus said what? Neither do I condemn you.

There is therefore now, no condemnation. That’s what makes the Gospel good news. That’s what makes it scandalous. Praise God for his great mercy.

Had Hugh not done those things and confessed before the news broke I may feel differently. But the man did it right before it became public and we shouldn’t condemn him either.

I hope Hugh Freeze does well in life and is restored in his marriage.

But, Repentance + Forgiveness ≠ Hire the Guy.

I think this is where I’m at on this. I’m all for forgiveness and people getting their lives back in order. But paying the guy 6-7 figures isn’t exactly what I call a good idea.

I'm so glad our Lord doesn't follow your line of thinking. "You repented and I have forgiven you. But letting you into heaven in my Father's very presence? Not a good idea. Sorry."

So, eligten me. Buy your judgment or anybody else for that matter. What defines a good Christian/
Should we be all fire and brimstone punitive?
I do not think that fosters the Spirit of the Book at all.
Should we do as we preach and practice Love and walk with others through their muck in an attempt to show the what love and repentance is?

I, for one am not pretntious enough to be judge and jury of where a man or woman can build faith and no one ever led me to love and repentance through force and constant degredation for what I did (except for the punishments I earned from my mother and father).
I have done nothing near what this man has done but as I stated bvefore I am not the final judge to decide what he is or is not forgiven for. I am not that powerful. I chose not to keep someone down when there is a chance to grow.
It sounds as if others are in another corner of once you have sinned you are trash, JMHO.

Whoa. You took that waaaaaay too far. The Liberty football program is not the equivalent of heaven.

Here’s an example:

A pastor is caught in a moral failure. He repents and shows every sign he’s truly sorry. Do you immediately put him back in charge of a church again? Or do you bring him along on a path to restoration?

What most people who are anti-Freeze are saying is that you don’t go straight from recruiting violations and hiring prostitutes to another head coaching position. You have to prove that not only are you repentant but that you are also able to handle the responsibilities of the job in the way you’re supposed to.

I’d have no problem with Freeze as a coordinator or position coach if I were one of the SEC schools talking to him. That’s where he needs to start on this path to redemption. He will be a head coach again someday but he first needs to prove he can be an effective coach without cheating.

He’s been out of football basically for what, 2 years? Seems like enough time to go through the restorative process. Coaching is coaching. Being a Coordinator or being a HC he’s still in a position of leadership.
So I don’t see it as him “jumping right back in”

To piggyback on this, where is he going to have better guard rails? At LU or as an OC at a P5 school? He will have all the support and resources he needs to keep his Walk right here since it’s obstensibly a priority at LU.

My argument is what happens when there’s pressure to win again? Does he succumb to it and let his morals slide again? I think he needs to be an assistant again to prove he can do things with integrity. It’s not enough to sit in time out for a few years.

It's football. No matter where he goes and what he does there is pressure to win.
unless medioctiy is king.

It’s the nature of the Beast. Will he be under more or less pressure to succeed at LU or an SEC school? Will he have a better support network at LU or an SEC school? No matter where he goes he’s going to have pressure. Why not put him in a position to succeed?

Liberty could be the haven for quality coaches(and athletic directors) that never want to feel pushed to blur ethical lines. The message from JLFJr should be, "be as good as you can while representing God first."

If that is the message we send to the coaches and ultimately the fanbase, I am fine with that. Yes, there is still pressure to win, but we are not willing to support unethical or non-Christian behavior to meet that end.

I agree and disagree with this.

In a perfect world, you are 100% right. However, in reality we’ve seen those guardrails blown through on multiple occasions. With no FOIA requirements and a neutered press, there’s no outside accountability to keep things in check.

Had Freeze called a prostitute while the head coach at Liberty there would be no way it was found out and no way for it to be proven he did it. It could be swept under the rug and kept inside the bubble.
