Someone said this earlier in this post, "we’ve not been good in FCS". I can't speak for the years of FCS football before I got to LU in 2005. But, Since the end of the 2005 season we have had 13 straight winning seasons in FCS football. I remember someone doing a piece before last season saying there were only 4 other teams in FCS who had that many winning seasons straight and JMPOO and North Dakota State were 2 of those 4. I think saying we have not been good in FCS is an unfair statement. If we were to have 13 straight winning seasons in FBS what would be our perception of the team? I know the last 3 years have been disappointing especially with the talent and resources we have at our disposal. I am right there with each of you on that fact. Yet, we have continued to have winning records in each of those 3 seasons. When we look across the entire landscape of college football something becomes clear, it is really really difficult to continue a winning tradition of football whether it is FBS, FCS, D2, D3 or NAIA. 13 straight seasons of winning records is a great accomplishment. and 6 of those belong to HCTG as well as the only playoff appearance and victory.
I am thankful Gill represents our school as head coach due to his love for Christ. However, if in the next few seasons at FBS we see a clear decline in competitiveness and the direction of the program sinking than yes let's find a new coach that we can be just as thankful for due to his love for Christ as well as his coaching ability. Until that time, GO FLAMES AND GO GILL!
If we go 6-6 that makes 14 straight seasons without a losing record!
