the thing with LA is that you hear all those other city names, but if you have ever been there you see that they are basically all one big city, theres no driving out of on town and driving a couple of miles to get to the next one. Imagine every town border being like the border of liberty campus to the surrounding shopping centers, they are right next to eachother. Also take into account that all the houses are right next to eachother, these arent acre lawns, they are maybe 10 ft x 10 ft of lawn space per house, and not to be racist towards mexicans living there, but there are probably at least 5 people per house. You guys seem to be downplaying this nuke, it was a nuclear weapon, there will still be mass loss of life.

I've been to LA (hated it) several times so I know how it is laid out. As for destruction, where it went off there won't be as much damage> But the puprose of that type of weapon is not to cause "physical" damage, but more psychological damage. Same with a "dirty" bomb. I know I would drop a loaf if one went off ANYWHERE in the US

oh no im not saying theres going to be as much damage as if it had gone off in downtown LA, but someone else mentioned this he got dropped off in a culd e sac there were alot of houses around there, and then he was at the wharehouse within like 2 or 3 minutes on the show. Id say at least 20,000 deaths

Purple Haize wrote:Good question about the nuke. Mrs Purple asked the same question, but I knew the answer (b/c I listened earlier) They said the bomb had a 1/2 mile blast radius. That is not real far. I told her it was over a 1/2 mile from our cul du sac to the road to put it in perspective. The fallout cloud was also about 5 - 10 miles, which in the grand scheme of things isn't that far. You put that in a urban area however, it becomes more impactful b/c of all the multi story buildings. Having this one blow up in a sparsely populated warehouse complex greatly reduced the kill rate and some of the fall out damage.

Did anyone catch the face of the DAD right as the bomb went off?? He should get an emmy just for that look. Hauting.
I was just trying to get over the fact that Jack just shot Curtis. What the crap??? Did he kill him? They sort of left ya hanging on that one.
The DVD of the first two nites is ALREADY out on DVD, go figure.
Also, Jack's daughter KIM was the porn star on The Girl Next Door (At least that is what SCAR said)
The weasel guy in Palmer's cabinet is up to something
I am not convinced Sayeed is REALLY turning over a new leaf.
I think the Palmer sister's husband is a GONER in prison.
Chloe's new/old boyfriend (the bald one) is my current favorite "new" character.
Still trying to figure out Nadia's role other than eye candy (how YOU doin) this season. She isn't doing anything that Chloe cant do.
The bomb did go off in the warehouse, but didn't the guy get out of the car and walk like less than 5 blocks to get there? I mean he got dropped off in a cul-de-sac so i think that neighborhood was close by.

Jack shooting curtis also was shocking to me.....i couldn't believe it.
I think the weasel in palmer cabinet will get overulled on a major decision at some point since Bill and his wife really can screw with him in needed.
I also love the new british guy or chloe's man.....the more i hear him talk he has the potential for a Hugh Laurie like personality.
The bombing was in Valencia; in a news report on "24" that I read, the estimated casuality is approximately 12,000. In story that may or may not be unrelated, at the beginning of season 4, someone asks about Kim and Jack says that she and Chase were living in Valenica (Chase since left Kim; whether or not the two left Valencia is a different story).

Curtis's shooting wasn't all that shocking to me, because a) the actor that plays him wasn't listed as being part of the main cast in season 6 and b) I saw an interview with the actor (Roger Cross) and he said that "Curtis was going to do something that was out of character for him."

If it weren't for the weasel in the Palmer cabinet, there wouldn't have been the detainment camps, and no one would have discovered that there were "five visitors".

My problem with the new techies is as follows: 1) It says that Milo (skinny guy w/ mustache) has taken Edgar's old job, but it seems like he is more middle-management. I would say that Chloe's boyfriend has Edgar's old job. And as for Chloe's boyfriend... what was he working on that one time that Milo questioned him, and he said he was doing something for Chloe, but Chloe denied it? They kind of brushed that off in the show.

Nadia "eye candy" -- I think she is in the Nina Meyer's "second-in-command" role. She got to that position because she is fluent in Arabic culture, and of course, she's a hottie (although the actress that plays her is a Scientologist...)

Best quote I read so far on the new season of 24: "It's nice to see that playing the Regina King character (Wayne's sister) is none other than Regina King."

As for Sayeed and the other guy (who was in The Matrix, you know, what's his name) -- I predict that one of them dies and one of them helps saves the day (Sayeed probably dies, despicable character with good tendencies usually die -- see season 4 with Beirooz's mother, who just wanted to save her son.)

Speaking of which, did anyone audibly express anger during "the Nativity Story" when Elizabeth was on screen, because the actress that played her also played Beirooz's mother? And did anyone else have EVERYONE in the theatre looking at them for doing that (not like it happened to me, or anything).

Two Words: (Stole that from the Shorty) Missionary Dating!!

Good point on Valencia, I had thought the same thing. Chase could come back a'la Alemeda. And I don't think they are going to throw away the fact that Chloe's boyfriend was working on something that neither knew what it was. I believe it is called foreshadowing.

You are right about Chloe's boyfriend. If you remember, in season 5 he was brought in towards the end of the season after Edgar was killed. He pretty much assumed Edgar's role last year, and has kept it up.

Not sure how many have watched all the seasons, but Milo was also in Season 1 as a CTU agent. Also if any of you were into the short lived show this fall "Conviction" Milo was also in that.

Pretty good episode tonight. Great ending w/ jack placing a plastic bag over his brother's face. I was shocked to find out the guy behind all the bad stuff in season 5 was Jack's brother! WOW. Interesting to see how his father is going to fit into this next week. I think his father will be a good guy though.

Boy is Pres. Palmer's sister annoying. She needs a smack in the mouth. My guess is that we may see the internment camps come about. What say you...

Kel, like mother like daughter!!!
Totally shocked that the "auxilary" character behind Season 5 is his Brother!!
Is that Jacks son?? I am thinking yes
I still love the bad guy turned good.
Chloe is hot, I have given into my inner tech geek.
Was it me or was the blonde who got picked up on the corner look ALOT like Kim Bauer?
When is the former prez gonna make an appearance. It ties in nicely now that we see the tie in.

As soon as i saw that kid i yelled....ohh my that is Jacks son....and everyone in the room looked at me like i was nuts...then after the scene finished they seemed to agree....quite funny.

Those huge concrete door that slammed shut in the bunker were kinda creepy as well.

How fast did Jack scale that house and get to the roof.....what 20 seconds......

And sometimes i think torture tactics get old and very predictable....but the bag over the face i didn't seem coming nor the knife to the knee in the first episode.....i like the creativity.

Jack: "Tell me where dad is or I am gonna have to hurt you and I don't want to do that"
Jacks Bro: "You are hurting me"
Jack: "I haven't started to hurt you yet. Beleive me"
(Or words to that effect)
Great dialogue
Yes, the bag over the head was great. When he ripped the electrical cord out I thought he was gonna use it to shock tortue. But the bag was brilliant.

To clarify my last post, when I said:

"As for Sayeed and the other guy (who was in The Matrix, you know, what's his name) -- I predict that one of them dies and one of them helps saves the day (Sayeed probably dies, despicable character with good tendencies usually die -- see season 4 with Beirooz's mother, who just wanted to save her son.)"

Obviously I got my names wrong; Sayeed is Fayid (the main terrorist). I have no doubt in my mind that he will die. When I said "Sayeed", I meant "Assad" (the former terrorist who got the pardon, who Curtis tried to shoot). I meant to say that I think he will die, but it seems as if his story line is ending.

THat leaves Walid, the guy in the internment camp. I wonder if he's gonna get it... (I hope not, only because I don't want to have to deal with Regina King's character whining about a wrongful death).
*****

TOTALLY did not see the "Graham Bauer" thing. There is no way that the writers were thinking of that during last season.

I too, thought that the blonde who got into the car was Kim; even after she took off her glasses I still wasn't convinced that it wasn't.

That's Jack's son.
*****

The interesting thing about 24 is that, since things are layered, that the people who are the terrorists and the terrorists plots that you usually see in the first third of a season isn't what's going on.

Examples (MAJOR SPOILERS, don't read anything)
*****

Season 1: starts out with a terrorist hate-group wanting to kill the first African-American with a shot at the White House; later found to be pawns of an Eastern Terror group who just had a beef to pick w/ Palmer and Bauer.
Season 2: Islamic terrorists, later found to be pawns of businessmen.
Season 3: Mexican drug cartel, later found to be pawns of an terrorist anarchist
Season 4: One terrorist, but the plot kept changing -- kidnap Def. Sec., explode nuclear power plants, attempt to kill the President, set off nuke in L.A.
Season 5: assassins, later found to be pawns of a high-ranking administration official, later found to be pawn of former CTU agent, later found to be pawn of high-ranking administration official, later found to be pawn of mysterious guy w/ bluetooth.

SOOOO.... obviously the season's main terrorist is NOT going to be Fayid, (and probably not even Jack's father, if they're introducting him in episode 6) nor is the objective going to be explode four more nukes. But what? WOW, I CAN'T WAIT!
