http://thinkexist.com/quotes/randy_dunton/

Some of my faves
“Life is a do-it-yourself project and we Jack Kevorkian-ed ourselves tonight. It was assisted suicide.”
“The important thing for us is just establishing that we can win. Winning can be a habit. Unfortunately, so can losing.”
“I doubt there were many believers left. That's reflective of where we were at in our season.”

In all those quotes, as well as those I have seen in the paper, it is all on the players. Not once has he EVER addressed the shortcomings as a preparation issue.

On losing to Winthrop: "That was an old-fashioned heinie whipping."
[something tells me that Dunton didn't use the word 'heinie' in his locker room speech].

On why David Dees left LU: "He wanted to be Batman, not Robin."
[translation--Dees didn't want to play second fiddle to Larry Blair].

On Armon Jones at a Flames Club meeting:
"He's not immature; he's premature--he's a premee; he has to grow some to become immature."

That last quote really p's me off. Dees was easily a better all around player. If that really is the issue than deal with it. Don't just send him packing. Now it looks like rd will be the one packing.

On Russ during his freshman year. "If this kid dosen't go to the NBA we should all be fired"

On Evan's involvement in church last year during basketball. "You need to decide if you are going to focus on church or basketball. If you aren't focused on basketball 100% we don't need you."

On Larry attempting to transfer to NC State. "If he isn't fully committed to LU then I don't think we want him on our team anyway."

On players getting caught having sex in the dorms. "Do players at UNC or Duke get in trouble for having sex in their room? We say we want to win, this is something we will have to accept as part of that process."

On Norman Simmons "He could be the future of Liberty Basketball..."

That's what I said. Suprised? It's never ever him. There's always someone else to blame. Most of those were purged. Who else is there other than himself.

Luzer where did you get all of that stuff? Not to doubt you, but if RD really said that stuff maybe you should cite it.

I have worked closely with the basketball program and many people that are and have been a part of it. While I was a student here, I was very close to many players, managers, coaches and others in the athletic department. Those quotes were either made in my presence, or made to people that I am closely connected (Evan Risher for example).

CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION

GUYS: we need to be really really really careful here.

we are now bordering (well- LEAPING OVER THE BORDER) into the very dark gray area of libel

actually- with some of that stuff - you may be SOLIDLY there.

if I hadn't made myself clear- I would REALLY REALLY REALLY suggest we (you) NOT print "quotes" attributed to a public figure without sourcing them

The Medic is correct. And even if you're an anonymous entity on a message board, those messages can be traced back to you. You'd better be careful. And, yes, you can be charged for libel for something you post on a message board or in a blog.

esp when it involves a public figure. There is a little more latitude granted in their behalf- legally speaking.

Just trying to help you guys avoid trouble.

This crosses a line for the board that I don't think should be crossed. I appreciate the passion, but we can't have this kind of stuff here.

I'll have to lock this one up.
