This.
I wouldn't. As always, it depends who you talk to.

We can always look at the bright side. Only 130+ more coaches have to turn down TN and them maybe they will come after TG. There isn't a huge difference going from Training Champions for Christ to Champions for Life.
We can hope anyway.................................... can't we? 8)

I have been wondering why we haven't acknowledged the immense talent in our own backyard, especially since we've recruited from Heritage in the recent past (Frankie Hixson). I'm with you - I hope they extend him an offer as well.

We may not have offered him due to a verbal from Uriah West and an almost certain commitment from Anthony Ballard Jr. There is also a kid named Dante Black, 3 star rb from Georgia that is showing interest in us!

I realize not everyone in local area will be recruited by LU, or sign with LU if recruited, but it burns me up when a good local player "gets away", in any sport.

Not all local players are a good fir for LU. And I’m the biggest advocate for local recruiting around

I have been gone several days hunting with no connection to the outside world an when I got signal I had a message from my brother saying that TG was gone. First thing I do when I hit the door is turn on ASOR to find out that my brother was messing with me on his message.

I am now starting to questioning IM. Before you start the "look at the games he's scheduled" stuff just remember EVERY FBS school is vying for 6 D1 wins a year so why wouldn't any team want to schedule us and pick up an all most certain win and in many cases some cash.

I'm probably wrong but I thought Money and Lawyers got us to FBS independent status not IM.

Can someone give me a rundown on what IM has done at LU thus far so I can see where i'm wrong. Has he raised a bunch of money for LU that i'm not aware of.

Could it be he is here to shed the past and get a more high profile job in the very near future and didn't want to have the baggage of being the AD that replaced a "legend" at LU with a coach that only won 6 games in his first couple of years.
I would think it would be easier to seek employment and explain why his current and inherited coach is struggling during a transition phase than explaining why HIS hand picked coach is struggling.

The only way I can accept this is if TG was given a lifetime contract. Based on what I got out of the article he will always meet IM's requirements because Unless something mental happens TG is not gonna change his religious status, He won't be a bad ambassador for LU, Will always have young players on the team.
We play UVA an VT several times over the next few years and if we happen to lose each meeting as long as we lose by less each time that's improvement so why would TG ever need to be replaced at LU.

Understand your frustration completely. A couple of things to consider. IM inherited TG who had been given a ridiculous contract extension, (think Dale Layer and Toman), along with his assistants, by the previous AD. In addition, there is an early signing period now in Dec. that did not exist prior to this year.
The combination of the two, plus having to fill out a FBS sized roster, made it difficult to bring in a new coach right now. With two weeks to go, prior to the early signing period, it would not have given the new coach enough time to visit and hold on to the committed recruits. Plus he would have had to try and put his own staff together for the next signing period in Feb.
Personally, I would have taken the hit and fired him anyway. But, I have to consider that I don't have access to all of the information that the decision-makers have. In addition, the admin has a pretty stellar record of making the correct decisions in cases like this. Maybe not as timely as we would like, but overall they have done quite well.
I am confident, that without some significant improvement next year, we will have a new coach soon enough. TG hardly received a huge vote of confidence or support from IM and didn't receive a one-year contract extension, which is pretty standard now days, if the admin is happy with the results of the previous year.
We should be glad that the AD and admin hold integrity as a high priority. However, I am convinced that they also understand there has to be performance on the field. I believe this is the last contract problem that we will have to overcome, (maybe one more), before the mistakes of our previous AD, are flushed out.
After that, I don't see any room for excuses for accepting anything less than stellar results, in all sports.
My .02 cents.

Gill 4 life.

Especially since Overstreet wanted to come to LU. But maybe the coaches thought we had better commits. I mean, they have done a stellar job so far ......................................haven't they?

Chibueze and Lewis are two HUGE gets for our program! And they are o-line and d-line positions which is where the game is won. Both of them will play next year and play a good amount if not start. Especially Chibueze. Jacob Bodden, Uriah West and Logan Beadles are all 3 better than their star rankings for sure. So, yes at this point in time I would say that our recruiting has been stellar.

The CHIBU kid got hurt today and had to be carted off the field. Going by LU standards I can only say it was a lower body injury. [had to abbreviate the kids name since the last letter in the alphabet quit working on my computer]

Let's say your 100&% correct. The last 6 years of recruiting have not been so stellar and that is the only thing we can objectively measure. We won't know anything about these new recruits coming in for several months to a year from now. All we know is for sure, how many stars they have and who else recruited them. And that is very subjective at best, as you have pointed out.
Since we are no better as a program, than when TG arrived, please forgive me if I am just a bit skeptical for the time being. I hope I am won over very soon, but not expecting to be convinced. Always nice to receive unexpected surprises.

@flameshaw I totally understand what you are saying and am on the same page with you.

My thing is there must be grumbling further up the food chain not just on here for IM to even make a statement in a none contract year. You generally read or hear of a coach getting fired or an extension mid contract not a lengthy article that so and so is still gonna be a teams coach.

I'm not frustrated at all just didn't agree with the wording and reasoning or why he even needed to say anything. Maybe I read it wrong.

I have no issues with any of the coaches. I probably had more contact with WIMBO,[who I think is a good coach] than any of the others coaches and really like him and would never want him or the other coaches to lose their jobs. However it's a job just like every other working person has but you only have 11 or 12 days a year to show you are worthy to keep your job. I judge teams on who they get beat by,not who they beat.

I still stand by my original post on this topic that if they didn't believe TG and crew were what they were looking for for the long haul they should be let go immediately to get the lumps and bruises over with by who ever they thought could lead us. They made their decision which is the only ones that matter and I will support TG and crew as usual.

I just don't buy all of it. I won't until after the playoff is done. If LU has stealthily poached a playoff staffer, it would be in both the coaches and Liberty's best interest to wait until the ESP is over and potentially have more championship pedigree being brought in.

I know it feels like a bad dream, and it will eventually end, but not right away. Unless he gets hit by a bus, or similar, he will be back for 2018.

Yes, he is back, his ceiling is what it has always been. I fear what that ceiling will look like next year.
Praying that I am wrong like I have been many times in my life but this just does not feel like one of those times.

The ceiling is lower than the roof and I would love to see us blow the roof off.
