JimFlamesFan--- Do you remember me from Dorm 10?

I wasn't aware that they were considering becoming a boarding school. I'd imagine it would take next to nothing to generate the facilities and staff to make it happen. It'd be pretty sweet to attract top-notched atheletes to LCA and then show them how amazing it would be to play big time college ball with their new friends and family in Lynchburg.

That's right. This close to Blacksburg and with the TV coverage it would be easy for them to catch Tech games.

the post grad is actually in the works and ready to go...theres one thing missng, the boarding part...but once that takes care of itself then the "elite" or post grad team is one of the first things JF wants to do

we'll get him ON BOARD soon...he's only on board with a few teams @ LU but he'll learn to be a real fan it means being supportive of ALL teams reguardless of what you think of the coaching! heck there are some coach's right now that should be gone, but you wont see me missing any games ;)

We need a sarcasm icon for some of my posts.

Now, as a "true fan," I don't believe you follow a program blindly like a bunch of lemmings. Put a good product out there, with quality mentoring (coaching) by adults of character and integrity, and I will follow to the moon (OK, maybe Bedford) and back. A "true fan" should offer criticism and opinion, but be tolerant that others will do the same. Heck, the only TRUE, true fan LU probably has, outside of JF, is #1 Fan. Me? I like to stimulate conversation with some of my posts and, as far as not being on board with "all" the teams, I am on-board with ALL the students that work hard to represent Liberty and Christ (just not some of the coaches).

OK--to get back to the topic de jour:
I think a boarding post-grad program would be huge for Liberty and for LCA. We would have to compete directly with Hargrave, who is VERY established in that regard. Many of those players are "placed" by the D-I schools for that extra year of seasoning (and getting their test scores up). LCA would have to establish the fact that it could put out a quality product.

In the paper:

League: LCA not eligible

By Ted Allen

February 22, 2006

Liberty Christian Academy’s bid to join the Virginia High School League has suffered a setback.

LCA’s resolution was denied by VHSL executive director Ken Tilley in a letter of response to academy Superintendent Harvey Klamm last week.

“Our bylaws do not allow it, so they’re not eligible for membership,” Tilley said in a phone interview on Tuesday. “That’s the way we’ve been organized and the courts have supported us.”

Tilley refuted LCA’s contention that the VHSL is required by law to open its membership to non-public schools. He said differences between independent schools and private schools would tilt the playing field if the two are combined into the same league.

“The VHSL has common regulations and standards of eligibility,” he said. “Our member schools adhere to those regulations and the independent schools don’t meet (them).”

However, he did encourage Klamm and LCA’s Board of Directors to draft a proposal to amend the VHSL’s bylaw excluding private schools from gaining admittance in the league. The proposal could then be added to the VHSL’s Executive Committee’s agenda for its next meeting this spring.

“It seems like they’ve opened the door to discussion,” said Jerry Falwell Jr., the general counsel for Jerry Falwell Ministries. “We are open to ask the executive committee to consider amending the bylaw.

“We would be likely to go that route,” he added. “We wouldn’t take any legal action until all other avenues are exhausted.”

Again--it makes absolutely no sense to try this route.

speaking of LCA, they are the #1 seed from the south division in the VIC Tournament at LC on thursday. they play covenant school from charlottesville. LCA is ranked third in the DII private school poll and has a chance not only to win the conference tournament, but the state as well. good luck to the dawgs.

I tell you what, David could help out LU right now! That kid is good...coach took him down to Wake Forest to meet the coach's (one of his good friends is a coach)....LU better not lose that inside track!

another good thing is seein Holy Cross's shooter at the WU game, and after he went into the locker room and nobody knew who he was, then LB said, "Yo your that shooter from HC" and a few of the guys came up to him once they knew who he was...I hope we can land both
