Let's not pretend like they're playing DI basketball now. Trust the process, they'll get there eventually.

Lots of schools do well with kids who have never played D1 basketball Seems to have worked out for Kansas, LSU, Duke, Lexington KY Schools, among others

In another era Purple, a lot of those kids would not have played college basketball at all.

Who's pretending Schfourteenteen? The teams we are taking the court against aren't make believe. I'm not happy to be winless, but that doesn't mean we are not competing, and if it isn't D1, what is it?

Actually, they would have played................. on the Freshman team. The Freshman team Alcindor played for at UCLA could have won a national championship.

But The Freshmen team was still not Division 1. But you are correct the 2 best teams that year were UCLA and UCLA's Freshmen team!

Ah the "good ole' days" when the LSU freshmen team with Pete Maravich would fill the arena and after the game the arena would empty as the varsity took the floor. Think about how his lifetime 40+ pt per game average would have been if he had the 3 point option. I know - :offtopic

That's one cat I wish I could have seen play. Although I did have all of his instructional videos. He was even amazing in those!

Better than Tom Emanski's instructional videos featuring Fred McGriff?

I think you will get to see a "poor man's" version in the Vines starting next year. One of the national evaluators for Phenom Hoops nicknamed Xzavier Barmore "Pistol Pete".

Get the video "Pistol". Great movie about his childhood and beginnings of his development and relationship with his father Press who coached HS in Pittsburgh before taking job at Clemson and eventaully coached Pete at LSU. I've seen Barmore play - he is not Pistol Pete - Maravich was 6'5". Was a starter on the HS team as an 8th grader

It goes without saying that there was only one Pistol Pete, and that aside, at 6'1" Barmore is a different player. Apparently there are people who see similarities in how ZayZay handles the ball, one of them being national evaluator Stephen Peck.

In addition to slick handles, Barmore apparently has some serious hops.
