Kids a def weapon, who will have a shot on Sundays
Gill said today if it's within 60, he has no hesitation to send him out there. If it's 60-65, he feels confident, but the timing has to be right.

Especially inside a dome. For how bad the kicking has been in the NFL this year with the changes, I think he has a good chance to make it to the next level.

I think he does as well...although I believe some posters said he cost himself quite a bit of $$$ with his struggles at times

Perhaps some of the scouts at the WVU game came away with a negative impression, but K is the one job where level of competition is basically irrelevant. If John finishes strong, his late season numbers and his video will show the NFL teams what he can do. His % this year will be down regardless, but those 55 yard plus kicks jump off the screen, as do the unreturnable kickoffs.

SJ and FilmGuy both came on here last year and said, Gill ran an unorganized program, and if we were going to lose games like Indiana state, he wasnt the man for the job. Not trying to stir people up, but if your going to continue to cast a dark cloud over the program "Typical Liberty" or declare the current coach isnt the guy for the job, When we do things really well, you need to be called out.

He's got the leg. Only issue is that NFL level will require him to be virtually automatic inside of 45 yards. It may be that he just loses his focus somewhat on the shorter kicks. At the least, he will make a practice squad where he will get help with consistency on shorter kicks.

I never said he needed to be fired. He was in year three and had made no improvements. I asked if he was the guy to move our program forward. From the get go, I said he deserved year four, but I was questioning if he deserved after that.

If you're going to make accusations, at least know what you're talking about.

The harder he swings the more accurate he is ? I know its like that with my pitching wedge. Maybe he needs to aim at a spot 65 yards away on every kick.

I know exactly what Im talking about (too lazy to pull quotes). Your tone was much different after the Indiana State game, and especially leading into the Coastal game last year.

The reason for bringing this up is, it seems this year especially, this team and program are doing awesome things, winning games we wouldnt have had a chance in the past, and people like yourself are sitting in the background waiting for the slip up so you can compare this year to the several years of the past. Its annoying. It was a little poke at you and filmsguy that you both deserve after that debbiedowner rampage you both went on last year.

Dude. I was here the entire time for Montana. I even said we may have turned the corner. You're cherry picking things to make your argument.

And for the record, I'm pretty sure I started seriously questioning things after Richmond, not Indiana State.

I am just offended I was not included in that list of posters that questioned Turner Gill.

I deserve to be noticed!!!! (This post is for Manson)

Jon and I were in the same boat. We hadn't seen improvement before the coastal game, we won and won in the playoffs, we changed our tune to guarded optimism. especially after the montana game. I don't get how you can ignore the fact that we did in fact admit that we might be turning the corner but still want to put us on blast for things we said pre playoffs. again trolling for the sake of trolling.

I don't think he's trolling. Just pointing out the shortsightedness and pessimism of some of the folks on the board. I think we're all glad you were wrong. :)

Just pointing out that judging this team, and this coach, on decades of LU history, (or in your and SJ's case, the last 10 years) is baseless and annoying.

SJ and FilmsGuy are small samples of a larger epidemic, made themselves easy targets last year.

I respect both of you as posters on here, I just needed an example to build on for my Paradigm Shift Crusade.

And like i have done many times I have explained that for me personally its going to take a sustained amount of success for my pessimism to creep away. I will gladly admit last year I expected us to lose the coastal game and I am very glad I was wrong. but games like the SIU game make me fall back into that pessimism. Thankfully it only lasted a week. :) now lets please just blow out every team we play so I can stop sweating by the end of the first quarter until we get to coastal.

We're well on our way to this "paradigm shift" HOY is alluding to, but I don't think we can proclaim we are there yet. We're getting very close, but let's get into the playoffs again this year before we say we have successfully made a paradigm shift.

One year could have just been a fluke. I personally don't believe it was, but let's see how the rest of the season plays out.

Here's the difference: you think it's already shifted and we're national title contenders. I think it's still shifting and we've still got a ways to go to be a legitimate top 10 team consistently.

Fair, and we can disagree, because I think we are one of the top 10 team in the FCS, and with Gill and what he has built, I think we are there to stay. Like Manson said, I need to real in my optimisim and see how it plays out.

Although, its still unfair and annoying to cast some of those ghosts of years past onto Gill and crew, especially given their body of work so far.

A paradigm shift would involve CONSISTENTLY being a Top-10 team :fineprint

If only we had a schedule like Coastal... maybe you'd see it differently.

I side firmly with SJ and FFG. We are nowhere CLOSE to being a CONSISTENT top 10 team

in fact, if you asked me for a one-word attribute for both Danny Rocco and HCTG teams it would be INCONSISTENT

you could probably apply that to hoops and baseball as well. Its almost a culture at LU. No idea why.

revisionist history is a wonderful thing but if Chima didn't get that hand up last year we would still be talking about that epic defensive collapse at the end of the "typical Liberty" game.

I'm not sold on Gill. sorry. I'm sure he's a great dude.
