We're going into the toughest stretch that we've had in the past ten years. Saying 0-3 is possible isn't negativity. I thought before the season that we'd definitely lose to WVU and likely to Montana with SIU being a toss-up. After seeing Montana beat NDSU and lose a last second game to someone on the edge of the top-25, it makes me think we'll lose that game. Also, after seeing SIU play very well at SIU, it makes me think that game will be harder than expected. Maybe we learned how to win on the road last year with App, Coastal, and JMU, but road games and our track record still scare me.

The TL:DR version:

Nothing we did over the weekend influenced how I felt about the next three games. My opinions are based more on what the other teams did than us.

Rooster Cogburn wrote:I just think 1 game is never a good read on any team. Dear Chicken Little, the sky is not falling. This same mess happened last year, with some even saying Gill might not be the right guy. Suddenly we beat CCU and JMU and everyone is thru the roof happy. I like my football mixed with patience. We know close to nothing yet.

Confidence? I'll say it loud an clear for you:

WVU - Close loss (within 2 td) with a shot at the end.
UM - Close win
SIU - Solid win

There is a ton of talent on both sides of the ball and it just needs time to gel. And from here out we will have tape to study on what a team really looks like, I would be shocked if we came out 0-3.
So 1-2 is 'The sky is falling'? I agree that 1 game isn't a large sample size. 2-1 is possible but if I am betting I am betting 1-2

Basing WVU on the fact that we always seem to keep FBS games close somehow. With the run game we have, I think we play Mt the same way we played JMU. The Oline has the bodies and will gel just fine. Eat clock and slow down their offense and get them closer to 60 or 70 plays and we win. I believe we did learn how to play on the road and SIU will be a winnable game for sure. Indiana is NOT good.

WVU OL is light years better than what we saw. I'm sure I game plan will be to eat clock, but hard to do with 3 and Outs.
The other 2 we have a shot at

Ball control has to be the only way but the WVU Defense took a ball control option team such as Georgia Southern, chewed them up and spit them out. This WVU team is scary. It may be the best overall FBS team that we have played.

I would agree with that last sentence. I think that we basically are going to have to have career showings from a couple of our offensive stars and win the turnover battle. Hopefully Newman, James, Chima and the rest can force a couple of turnovers.

I'll agree with that. If WVU can replace some WR's and their D can stop the run like yesterday they'll have a great year

Play them "one game at a time".

If the same LU Offense goes to WVA that was in Williams Stadium Saturday, it will not be close. We got to get passing game clicking, thus opening up running game.

If we take our "A" game to Morgantown we can win.

I agree to this extent. We CAN win if we bring our A game and WVU does not. If the Mountaneers bring theirs, the best we can hope for is to not get embarassed. They will be bigger, faster, deeper and more talented.

I predict that we will be discussing stephon masha after this week's game with WVU. I believe stephon masha will be used this week in creative ways along with josh Woodrum keep west va guessing. I believe masha has great potential with the wildcat option and with a strong arm and he will be the x factor for this team this year.Stephon showed last year in the coastal game his potential to be a major factor in the future. I'm sure gill did not want to show anything on video for WVU and montana and that is why we didn't see anything from masha against delaware state. I believe that damian king could be the most talented wide receiver we have ever had here at liberty. I expect with bj farows shaky hands, that we will see more of damian king. It is very exciting to see on the field the great talent turner gill is bringing to liberty.

I went 1-2 hoping against all hope that SIU is deflated the next few weeks after coming so close to beating Indiana. HOWEVER, 0-3 is more than likely. I'll be happy if we score 14 on WVU and I'll be happy if the Montana game is close.

Yeah, this. Three years ago, is someone told us about this year's schedule we'd have been overjoyed. We are showing everyone that we're not afraid of scheduling the tough games. It won't help us in the polls (see Coastal last season with 10 cupcakes), but it earns us respect.

I drank some Kool Aid earlier today, but not quite enough to see us going 3-0. I agree with whoever said a win against Montana could mean us having some momentum to take into the SIU game, so we COULD go 2-1. My gut tells me we drop either Montana or SIU and end up 1-2 for this stretch. After the strength of our OOC schedule, we're ready for anything the Big South has to offer and we run the table, beating Chuck South on the strength of a Lunsford 65-yard field goal in the 4th and Coastal in OT at home in front of a record crowd and a huge TV audience.

Hey, I SAID I'd been drinking Kool Aid today ;)

We need a tough schedule. This is what it should have been all along.

If we come out of this next set of games 4-0 (including the GSU game...and 4-0 is about as long a shot as me winning the Powerball AND the Mega Millions in the same week), we would be 5-0 heading into conference play and we may not lose a game the rest of the way...and that is including beating Coastal in front of a national TV audience

the next 3 games scare me way more than coastal and GSU. TBH I think we go 0-3 and beat GSU and coastal on our way to the playoffs again. and that is perfectly fine with me. I would much rather lose to WVU, Montana and SIU than to lose to coastal and miss the playoffs.

I don't want to vote on this poll for one reason and one reason only. We have to go to WVU and play a big, extremely fast BIG 12 team and escape without any major injuries for us to compete in the next two games, which are far more important. To be honest, if we are going to be playing tougher FCS OOC games in the future like this one and SIU, I'd rather us not schedule games against P5 teams, unless it's against Wake Forest or some other crap team. Stick with the one game against a G5 school (preferably in the CUSA) that is both strategic for our aspirations and much more winnable.

Devil's Advocate: Coastal seems to be doing OK with cakewalk schedules.

But it hasn't prepared coastal for a deep playoff run. They can take the top ranking all they want. I want to be more prepared for elite teams.

Final 8 two years ago and final four last year. We'd call those deep runs if it happened to us.

Regardless, I think we need the harder schedule. It's better for us.
