Yet people on this board think they are the Belle of the Ball for us. Crazy

I see it more about the money, facilities and size of student body. Yes, some of it is because of our beliefs and the misrepresentations thereof. We will NEVER know for sure, either way.
I believe the worst thing that we can do is to go independent. Eventually, we will get an invite, there are still a lot of future dominoes to fall from a realignment perspective.

That's an easy one.
BYU is still Independent and App St is in an FBS Conference

And are you seriously saying you would rather be App State than BYU right now?
Depends on what you use for measure. Would I love the historical success of BYU? Yes I would. But if I had that success I certainly wouldn't want to be Independent. They have also wanted to get into Conferences but get shut out.
I would think you would want to be App St. FBS with a Bowl tie in. Would I want to be in the SBC? Not really. For starters they don't want us and I'm not a fan of going where you are not wanted.
Basically, I would love to have the FB success of either

I think it will be EKU. I think LU would have a case both vs the SBC (Discrimination)and against the NCAA (Independent rule), but I just don't think LU sues. It's just not the best route. I do think they should send a challenge letter to the NCAA and make it public. I still have a feeling there is another shoe of movement coming in realignment.

Sure, they would love to be P5, but don't pretend like they can't get into a conference when they chose to leave a good one for indy. They are in a much better position today than App State.

The PAC 12 took Utah

BYU would rather be in a P5 conference than Independent

Nobody said they wouldn´t Purple. The comparison being made is with Appy. Last time I checked their rinky-dink conference was not one of the P5.

This is what was said. This is what I was responding to. I made it bold so not to confuse you.
I doubt BYU could get into the SBC nor would they want to. App St more closely relates to our situation than does BYU. For where they are at respective to their histories App St is in a much better position than BYU. BYU SHOULD be in a P5 conference but can't get in. If we were to go Independent we wouldn't have as good a chance of getting into a G5 as BYU does getting into a P5.
i guess I could explain it better. I just thought people realized BYU's inability to reach their P5 dream

Sooooo... its Sunday night and no word or leaks? Can we assume they couldn't agree on a team?

If we don't hear anything by noon on Monday, we can then make that assumption. There would be no reason for CCU or EKU to sit on any info. The buzz on some of the boards is that either Coastal gets in alone or they go in alongside EKU & NMSU. But there remains a distinct possibility that the dysfunction that kept us out a year ago when it made all the sense in the world is keeping the league from doing the obvious now.

Several tweets about Coastal getting enough votes yesterday and are the 12th member of the Sunbelt. This hurts more than not getting the call up to the Sunbelt the last two years!!!!

If they have been voted in, then I wish Coastal Carolina nothing but the best. They have been good conference mates. They have been good for us and our development.

5 years from now it may be a good move but that is a terrible move by the sun belt. Coastal isn't ready and because of that moving up to early will probably come back to haunt them.

I know I am,very negative about this move by the sun belt but it just makes zero sense to me.

With that said I wish them no ill will except for when we play them at the bill.

The Big South without Coastal in it should open the door for Liberty to absolutely dominate IMO. It is going to be an even more watered down league. I wonder where the Big South Hoops tournaments will be held now? Coastal getting out of this conference before Liberty is a tough pill to swallow. I haven't really made a comment either way about seeing independent status but I think it may be time to consider that as the only viable option at this point.

I'm sad it wasn't us.

But I'm happy for Coastal. I think they will do well.

I think Coastal would still host the hoops tourney this year...it may change next year.

I just don't think they are ready, but it doesn't matter. Again I'll say that the NCAA made an independent rule to keep teams that were not ready from moving up. Yet, a conference can change that rule with one invite.
