That's the scariest part of the situation.

Most coaches who come to Liberty would be flight risks anyhow once they sniffed success.
If the only coach that Barber can get is a guy who was fired from his job before coming to LU the first time and then leaving for greener pastures after being here for only two years, we need a different AD as well as a different coach.
To me this a terrible hire. Why in the name of heaven would you hire someone who left you already just like Layer did and then hire him back like you did Layer. I give up on this athletic program.

We'll see you again when we start winning. You'll probably have a new username and will never admit to this one, but deep down you'll know you're back.

Just got a chance to watch the press conference. Was it just me or did JB seem really really defensive? I think he's a great AD but that first few minutes was almost uncomfortable.

It was very interesting and good to hear that we did not offer the job to anyone but RMK. It may blow up in our face (which I doubt very much), but he was our first choice, we didn't have 2-3 guys turn the job down and had to settle for him.
The more time that goes by and it settles in, I am excited about this hire. HMO said it best, RMK is taking much more of a chance on us, that we are taking on him. I may get to the Vines again for the first time in years. Play Basketball

I welcome Coach McKay back! He is a good coach and a good man. He is young enough that if he truly wants this to be his last job he can build a great program at LU. I was mad when he left too. I was mad because he had us going in the right direction and the future looked promising. He has talent to work with and he will bring in 1 or 2 to help out the first year. Things will turn around quickly. Let's put it this way it can get much lower! I know every one is up in arms about this move but I think it is a good one. You all seem to think that JB was taking the easy road but I think it is the opposite. It took guts to bring back McKay if he truly thought he was the guy that could get it done.

At the end of the day, we were looking for a coach that does two things:

1) win games
2) Fulfill the mission and vision of Liberty University and the late Dr Jerry Falwell

Its not about finding a coach that makes PAMedic, or SuperJon or Rooster Cogburn or Sly Fox or SCAR or flamesfilmguy or Purple Haize or BJWilliams or bigsouthking or youngflamer happy...its about the two reasons listed above, and if he does those two things, then its a successful hire.

I'm excited about the hire of Ritchie McKay.I believe he is the right person for this program. Only time will tell but I believe we will be very happy as time goes on with this coach.

McKay was part of a coaching staff that had UVA ranked second in the country under a team that will be considered the greatest in college basketball history and yet Flame fans are complaining? Crazy stuff!

I have to admit I got a smile while watching that video and a little excited for Liberty BBall. Gotta get over it and move on. Welcome Home Dr. McKay (ref. to earning a PhD), Go Flames!!

Pack line D won't work if you don't have an efficient offense. It's going to slow the game down, so if you get behind it's going to be hard to make a comeback. UVA was boring to watch because of the sloth-like pace they play at, but their offense was efficient - in the top 10 in adjusted efficiency before Justin Anderson went down with injury. I respect the heck out of what Tony Bennett has done there, but the system he runs is flat out boring and bad for the game.

I'm a die hard Kentucky fan and even I think that is pushing it, unless Kentucky somehow manages to ROLL Wisconsin and Duke. Like UNLV 1990 type massacre. Going to be real tough to top that 1990 UNLV squad, 1996 Kentucky, and some of those Wooden-era UCLA teams, just to name a few off the top of my head. Should be considered one of the 10 best all-time if they go 40-0, but saying the best ever is a bit too lofty in my opinion.
