I don't know if anyone has seen it over by City Stadium, but someone parked a tall cherry-picker in their very small yard and at the top, high in the air sits, what else, an inflatable santa clause. This is at the house that has all the signs plastered all over the garage/shed. The funny thing is, as I drove by, it didn't surprise me at all.

Then, just around the corner a few hundred feet away I passed a guy who was trying to mulch his big leaf pile with a weed-wacker. Classic Lynchburg.

I'm always amazed at how many homes in the "03" have those crappy inflatibles sitting in their yards or on the roofs. How cheap is that?

Its a scourge across the nation. Near my house some 15k square foot mansions have them out front. I mean, come on ...

That said, I'm cool with them going up in my more pedestrian neighborhood if he it means my neighbors will do SOMETHING to celebrate Christmas. I am surrounded by a bunch of scrooges (the worst offender is Pentecostal pastor). This year at least the houses on both sides of me have lights up.

I've held back completely since I've owned my own home, but as my son gets older...well, I can already feel my electric bill rising.

My house is simple, lights on the railings, a couple spiral trees and some deer/plastic venison in the yard, plus the very simple nativity seen of Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus, and candles in the windows. I'll post pics later.

Oh yeah...did anyone see some of the displays on East Campus this year? The guys from my old dorm (E-6, now living in E-14, unfortunately I'm a PL on E-16) went out and got a Christmas tree that reached to the top of the third story window (LUPD scrooges made em take it down though), plus E-24 had some great stuff as well. Then a couple of the girls dorms did some lights which looked nice and really classy.

We got a little 6' tree for my apartment and hug lights over the sliding glass door.

Here at home we have a few lights on the house but we live on a private road so no one ever drives down here to see them.

If anyone on Peakland Place puts up an inflatable I'm flying out there with my BB gun. There was a one a few years ago but last year it was gone. Wreaths and candles only for me. We did put some red ribbon on the light post for that candycane look. That was OK.

Dear baby Jesus, I'd like to thank you for giving Atrain the desire to put a replica of you in his yard

Ohhhhh. So that's what they were too busy doing to come help out in the ILRC.

Does Liberty Counsel know that Liberty won't let you have a Christmas tree?

ha! did everybody else miss this? What makes it even funnier is that he would be championed by many local residents for his intelligence because he found an alternative to burning them. He'd win in a land slide running for city counsel.

Yes...nevermind the fights in the ILRC, LUPD must first take care of the heinous crime of a giant Christmas tree in front of a dorm. Said tree was reported to be armed and dangerously violent, attacking anyone who attempted to put lights on it with needlepokes.

Liberty Counsel, for whatever reason, has refused to get involved :P

And for the record, its my dad who does the outdoor decorating at my house.
