Two things:

1) if you put down the coffee and did some reading, you would know that Incarnate Word is FCS as of 2013 (Southland Conference).
2) Do you seriously think JB would schedule three FBS games in one season?

While a UTEP matchup is not likely to occur, it would probably be enough to bring TTL out of the woodwork.

I'd be thrilled with home & home with TSU! Catching a football game at the Dynamo's stadium would be awesome.

As for Mercer, we know who can get the right people in touch with each other.

No doubt. with JB wanting to fill that slot with a home game that would have to be in 2016 or 2017

Nevermind on TSU as they are playing at Jackson State. As long as we don't have to schedule any of the Colleges or Universities of Faith I'll be disappointed but understanding based on circumstances.

It may not be central to the decision but it is a very significant factor Coach Withers has strong ties to Texas HS coaches dating back to his days as a Longhorn assistant. He also has a different philosophy about scheduling FBS games than Mickey had. So them trying to add a pair of FBS games to their schedule each year is certainly a change in tactics. It also might be reflective of their need to icrease revenue away from student fees per a certain house bill.

I trust SJ's sources on the buyout. I hadn't heard that anywhere else. That makes this even more disappointing and has me even more fired up to beat them again.
I think getting into Texas was a motivation, but he had implied in other posts they were getting into Texas because they were scared we were getting into Texas. That's what I meant by overthinking.

That's the only way I can possibly conceive someone can be so...I guess the phrase "high strung" is the only one I can think of that fits here. If he drinks coffee, more power to him, he just might want to cut back on how much he drinks before posting. If his "bouncing off the wall" personality comes from something else, he might want to adjust a bit

We have bitten off a giant chunk to chew already. So in those terms, Im glad the gauntlet was lessoned.

Yeah I agree with you, I think it would have been a tough task having these 4 games all in a row. I hate to lose JMU but I am glad the gauntlet is broken up.

I don't know their reasoning but I know when we beat them before in 90s their president called and canceled the series. I know we have come along way since I imagine losing to us in 12 months would seem pretty devastating to them.

Normal reaction for a Coach after getting beat at home is to go to that teams stadium the next year and win BIG. You will do everything possible to get revenge. If you think that team will beat you again, then you will do everything possible to keep from being embarrassed. It appears that JMU thinks we have a very good team.

He can only extract what the contract stipulates.
Then if I am JB what benefit would it be to my school to let you out of a "CONTRACT". Then It leaves me to scramble unless its commonplace to have a provision that maybe it can only be an FBS opponet that enables you a possible exit from the contract. IDK clearly guessing on my part.
If they don't want to play us and pay the fee, nothing we can do.

I agree..... making waaaaaaaaaay too much of the Texas thing. Also believe we are making too much of them being afraid to play us. They are getting a much bigger payday by playing SMU. They also avoid the possibility of getting beat by an in state FBS school. If they beat us, not a big upside if we beat them, biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig deal.

There's obviously some politicking going on here. And, I'm sure there is an end game that will benefit LU in the long run.

It's an interesting play, though, when you consider that there is arguably a finite number of FBS spots to be had. Helping JMU with landing an FBS opponent this season may only help the Dukes' case to move up a division. After all, we're both chasing what ... 1 spot ... in the Sun Belt?

Let's just hope we don't end up with Brevard.

UAB was Scheduled to play Troy on Sept 26th. Troy still shows that date available. Unless Troy is going to have 2 bye weeks in one season(unrealistic). We wanted to join the sunbelt right??? Makes sense to me. Plus the 3 FBS games is a bogus argument. Troy is not much more than JMU in regards to a challenging game. Only down side is it would be an away game instead of home.

September 26 is the best spot to fill on the schedule, but we also have October 31 as a bye week. I suppose we could flip open dates to accommodate a new opponent.
