Beans in relief now starting. What are we doing this weekend? I was listening to the pregame and toman said someone was sick and had high cholestrol then my feed cut out. Anyone hear who that was?

I don't think anyone is hitting the panic button yet but there is reason to be concerned. As a preseason Top 25 we are not playing like it and are one strike away from being 1-4. Blowing a 4 run lead should not happen especially with AP on the mound.

Toman said Perrit lost 10 lbs this week due to illness. He played 18 innings in center field. Not sure he had his legs to pitch effectively. Would have kept Clowers in to close out the game and let Perrit fully recover before getting innings on the mound.

Hmm...other than the single and 2 run homer he isnt doing terribly...he went 1-2-3 in the third and the only runner in the second was on an error by the shortstop. if he can settle into a groove here in the 4th he can eat up some innings for us and keep us in the game.

I see the Flames are getting off to another slow start. The two players that got all the attention in the off season are playing very poorly. Just a few quick notes. 1. Toman is a dumba$$. 2. Close is no catcher, not at this level and diffidently not at the next level. His bat doesn't like to good right now and he might not see the next level at all. 3. Perrit's only chance at the next level is with his arm, and he needs to pitch a lot better if he's going to get that chance. Toman needs to keep him in the bullpen and find another CF. Good luck to the Flames; they are going to need a lot of it.

Does anyone know why Bream has never had a shot? Pretty sure I remember hearing he had experience at 3B. This is his third year now and I don't know that I've ever seen him on the field. Maybe he's not that good and if that's the case then fine. I know he comes from a line of Bream's and I'm not one to say he should start just because of his name, but I just find it interesting that there has been no discussion about this.

Remember Toman tends to use one catcher for the whole season. Grauer (not Graeur) started the first game his soph year before breaking his hand sliding into second in the first inning of the second game of the year and only caught a few innings after the cast came off and didn't catch a single inning his junior year so for all intensive purposes he hadn't caught for two years when he took over for Wimmer last year. Yes it took him a little while to get his catching chops back but he did. Sankey and Close are in the same boat, neither caught many innings last year, and none after Grauer took over full time so both will need time to get comfortable there. Catching in scrimmages doesn't equal catching in games that count. Give them both time. One thing many people don't know is that Coach Toman is one of the very best catching coaches in baseball (pro and college). Look at his last 3 catchers, Rasmus (drafted), Wimmer (drafted, all Big South, Bench watch list) and Danny Grauer (All Big South).
