No, it's not a circus: just the Campbell Camels (9-16, 3-9) playing tonight. Lang's article isn't online yet, but I read the paper version and discovered 3 interesting facts about the team/game:

1. Peter Moller has "temporarily left school to tend to a family emergency. It is unknown when we will return."
2. Gielo and Coach Layer are weighing their options, one of which may be to take a "medical redshirt" for this year.
3. The game will be broadcast at 8:00 on American Sports Network. Does that mean SCAR will be here???

Losing Moller will hurt our chances, which were better than usual. I saw on Flames Nation about the situation and his family is in our prayers
Gielo would be wise to take a Medical Redshirt. There is nothing to gain playing this year. Unless he wants to graduate in May
SCAR will not be there

This is our best chance for a win (maybe only chance) for remainder of season.

We are 309th in scoring in NCAA D1. hard to believe it, but there are 36 teams below us.

We are still last in Big South in scoring, but 3rd in defense. That tells me, we are draining the shot clock.

. . . and missing the shot!!

Saw last night's GW - Asheville game and both teams lit it up offensively Asheville winning 92-89 closing the game on a 10-0 run.

We collapsed late. We have no defense.

Yes. Most weekday ASN games are at 8 PM. Makes for a long day for guys like me but its ok. No I will not be there. My lifelong "unwritten" ban from all things Big South continues. :P I have never measured up I guess because I have tried on many occasions to get Big South work. They did let me work for free the past 2 seasons in the Big South Tournament so at least there is that  This year I thought I would get the ASN games but they vetoed ASN and named their own announcers. Lepler and Ross do a great job though. Lepler is a Coastal Carolina employee I believe and my man Ross just does his own thing working as a caddy in the off season. He is a lot of fun to be around.

FYI I'll be in Tennessee on Thursday for ASN calling Tenn St @ Tenn Tech then I head to Philly next week for a game in the old neighborhood at LaSalle!

Rooster. We are actually on the same page. IMO giving Gielo a Med Red shirt gives Layer ammo to work out the final year of his contract

It took me a while to figure out the rule, but Gielo is in fact eligible for a medical redshirt. He has played in 7 games, and we have 32 scheduled by NCAA rules. Exhibitions count and the conference tourney counts as one. He has played in more than 20% of our games, but the rule says that if 20% of the games is not a whole number, you can round up. 20% of 32 is 6.4, so you can round up to 7.

I can think of a lot of reasons why he wouldn't come back. He likely will graduate this Spring, and he certainly would be able to play pro ball in Poland.

If he does redshirt (and return) the 3 players we signed will put us one over our scholarship limit as things currently stand.

Ezra Talbert, who has been dealing with a back injury all year, has only appeared in 5 games, and none lately. Looks like he has been shut down for the season and will be redshirted.

Or He Graduates and Transfers. Same idea except the money thing, no guarantee. Playing somewhere else could help/hurt his overseas contract if he wants to pursue that route.

Jerome going 5-11 from the line didn't help, either.

I still love that kid and he's probably Player of the Year in the conference. Just a bad night for him to go cold when he's been so consistent at the line all year.

Of course, Asheville shooting 62.7% from the floor is tough to overcome, as is the "Rowsey Call" (leaning into a guy to draw foul shots).

Nice try lynchburger.. If you actually watched that game and the play in particular- Rowsey didn't lean in on that last 3 pt attempt- Strange left his feet on the pump fake and was drifting into Rowsey because Strange knew the shot clock was almost out- it was not even close to being a questionable foul call.. Rowsey went straight up/Strange did not and there was plenty of contact

Has Rowsey leaned in on other attempts- absolutely (just like many other players do)- but there was no conspiracy or controversy last night.. even Strange knew it.. it was a really smart and poised play by Rowsey in that situation and ultimately the difference in this game when they put a 90%+ FT shooter on the line- Asheville lead for practically the entire game but GWebb battled back each time the lead got stretched out to double digits the Runnin' Bulldogs closed the gap.. it was a fun game..

In other news- good luck tonight Flames and Gielo should definitely sit the rest of this year out- what would be the point?

Didn't see the play but if the defender jumped it doesn't matter unless he jumps straight up. An offensive player is allowed to jump into a player that is NOT in a legal guarding position and it is a DEFENSIVE foul. I learned that at an NCAA officials clinic run by John Adams.

Yes no doubt Gielo should redshirt. Many coaches at mid majors are taking 1 and done transfers now.
