I know everyone knows that Oregon are the uniform kids, but without a doubt those silver grey uniforms look good. I wish LU could be outfitted in an alternate set like that

White / Chrome LU logo
White jersey
Silver pants

Take notes

And before anyone goes ballistic, those are NOT Oregon's "base" colors, so pls don't say it can't be done.

It's not that it can't be done. It's that it shouldn't be. Our colors are our colors for a reason. Use them.

So, teams that have alternate uniforms, in your assessment are not a good idea? At no point did I say, that this should/could be the new school colors

Alternate uniforms are great when they incorporate your school colors. When blue at home was our regular uniform and we had a red alternate, that was great. When we pulled in a black alternate, that was dumb.

There are a host of color combo options You then have Al the varying shades of each. We already have a Primary, Secondary and Tertiary color. Do we really need a fourth?

I guess we can agree that not all collefe alternate uniforms in "black" look good but when they are in the grey/silver color combo alot better, at least IMO. It can be done, but then again, I think you have to be willing to go outside the box a little and be somewhat creative with it.

The question I have is what purpose would it serve? Oregon has so many uniform combos because Phil Knight practically bankrolls the uniform budget. I don't see any real necessity to it or really any potential benefit even to recruiting. You cant just create a white/silver alternate uniform in a vacuum

I can't believe YOU just said that you don't think it affects recruiting. Uniforms these days are a big reason why kids choose, maybe not THE reason but definately A reason. They are not just coming here for an education, and if you think "education" is the only reason they are coming, if thats the case then you are fooling yourselves. Yes, you can create anything you want to. Many coaches do this and use this as part of their recruiting. This school spends over 8 mill yearly on the football program. You can watch almost any youtube video of new player uniforms for the year and the kids go crazy. There is a reason for it, its an attraction. So you can't tell me that RIGHT NOW you can't capitilize on LU's recent success and use it to your advantage. This school is already up against it when trying to recruit, so you can't tell me that having some sexy uniforms would'nt sway possibly another kid or two. I know this because I have sat and listened to more than my fair share of college recruiters "selling" their program to kids. I deal with alot of HS kids from different schools and trust me when I tell you that colors and brands are a big deal to some, maybe not all but some.

Oregon's uniforms did not look good last night. Neither did the Duck defense.

That's a lot of qualifiers in your statement. Why not get creative with the 3 colors we already have? Why go with Silver/Grey ? Other than you thought they looked good I wonder how many Obio State will lose out on because they didn't go with Purprle and Gold uniforms instead of the Scarlett and White they usually do? 'Son, come to Ohio St. where win National Titles'. Or 'Son, come to Oregon where we lose National Championships but have lots of uniform choices'

I saw where some guy named Labron James brought all the Ohio players headphones. Maybe he will buy them some uniforms next season. In other words he will bankroll Ohio like Nike does Oregon.

LOL, I think they tried to be creative. Alot of schools go with an alternate silver/gray uniform, but trust and believe OSU will gain players, but it will because of Urban Meyer not the school. Heck, even the QB said so, sort of idiotic but he did state they are there for football not school, the school has the coach and thats the thing that also wins the kids over, as soon as the coach is gone the kid normally wants out to. Oregon, say what you want was at least in the title game and of course all that does is give them more exposure which in turn will have those same kids saying hey, I can go play for a chip and have lots of uniform choices.

Of that list, how many added even a shred of relevance through having silver/gray alternate uniforms?

You do know that Nike and zero to do with the headphones dont you? Not to mention, that it was because LeBron (an Ohio boy no less) is a spokesperson for Beats by Dre, he facilitated the headphones being given to the players (which was confirmed as not being an NCAA violation)

You really are jumping around just trying to create something. In the very beginning all I stated was that the uniforms looked good, IMO. I never said they would be national champs because said school wore alternate uniforms. I thought you were better than that...this is really becoming childs play around here in talking to folks around here.

Are you serious? really are you. Of course I know it wasn't Nike that gave them the headphones, and I know it wasn't a violation of NCAA rules. He also purchased his old HS team uniforms before to so whats your point. He's a spokesman for Nike also, and facilitated that deal.

Point is, you can't just have a silver/gray alternate uniform just for the sake of having one. White is at least understandable for the contrast (which I think was written into the uniform rules from the NCAA). Personally I wasn't a fan of their uniforms last night and I'm not a fan of gray or silver uniforms or accents unless its one of the school colors

Anyway, we may as well agree to disagree on this one

And my point would be WHY CAN'T YOU. As you can see here, its quite clear that LU is not/nor probably ever be on the cutting edge of anything. Yes, we will agree to disagree, we are all entitled to our own opinions. And, I do think that LU could do a silver/gray with the RED accents(that is a school color right) with chrome logo

Red helmet/chrome Logo
gray/silver top Red trim
gray/silver pants w/red trim

The problem is that gray or silver is not a school color. just because you use school colors as an accent, does not mean that having silver/gray is a good idea. I will defer to SuperJon at this point to further explain
