I am tired of fielding calls, emails, tweets, Private messages from former players/coaches asking me what is wrong with the basketball program.
We are the toast of Lynchburg though after beating Randolph! :pbjtime :cheerleader
lol, Randolph isn't even the best D3 team in town though.

THIS is where we are with men's bball...just looking to "not lose," to bottom feeders. Since this looks like the expectation of the program, its fair to say it may be time for a change.

We haven't made a real effort to reach out to alumni and former players. SCAR won't say it because he is too nice, but that really kills our program. When those who put blood sweat and tears don't care about the program and the program doesn't care about them, why should anyone else?

Don't look now, but Radford beat VT. So we've had CSU beat Ole Miss, GWU beat Clemson, Coastal beat Auburn...and we can beat all the Division III teams in Lynchburg, even though we have the best funded program in the Big South with the largest arena.

Basketball can be turned around fairly quickly. In two years you can make drastic changes in your roster. Make the right hire and it can be fixed quickly. I think it's time we start talking about candidates.

Some people started that last year. Feel free to find it and bump it

Not to sound like sour grapes, but as great as a football season we've had....it's annoying to know Coastal is still alive in the playoffs w/ a quarterfinal appearance. UGH.

We need to look ahead and focus on Liberty and not compare ourselves to other schools. I know it's hard to do but there will always be someone who wins more games than you.

Other schools/teams have different reasons for their success and what works in one environment won't work in another environment. There are too many variables to look at one school and say, "I want what they have." You do that, and soon you'll be walking around bowlegged.

You might be able to pick one or two things someone else does and learn from it (i.e. not reinvent the wheel) but the best thing we can do is be Liberty and address our shortcomings and challenges.

What a dumb thread. The only thing that Coastal has been perennially dominant in is baseball and the women's cross country/track and field. Other than that, I don't think their athletics raises many eyebrows. They have had good run the last couple of years in football, but we had our long runs as well. Even when titles were shared, everyone knew that Liberty was the team to beat. I see the two programs on different paths, and while we are still in the Big South together, I appreciate their program for visible successes in more than one sport (Winthrop, UNC Asheville). I do think that we will continue to develop and will eventually move up. CCU, hindered by state funding, will have a much more difficult time doing that.

The only reason I'd disagree is because of their fan base. Their student body is very much a northeastern student body who doesn't naturally love football. Their attendance might hold them back.

They would have a good shot, but there are some other things that would have to change/be upgraded.

That said, I don't really care what they do. I only care about what we are doing.

I've got a Co - worker who just came from Coastal. He said internally their goal is to go FBS to avoid getting left behind when Liberty moves on. Makes sense with their facility upgrades, etc.

Not anymore. 24-20 in the third and Coastal is driving.

Down by seven and Ross throws an interception with a minute left. Bison should go on to win. Good season Coastal.
