We lost it on a fourth quarter 3rd and 1 timing pass on a rain soaked field.
Woodrum looked like he was hurt the second half. Didn't throw
a long ball after the first half interception (except the Hail Mary).

That being said, this team, school and fans can be very proud.
LU is definitely on the map, be it FCS or FBS. There were here from
all over the Northeast there tonight. Actually I talked to someone that drove up
from FL as well.

Being a first year Flame fan and new to the Big South, I'd hope so but not sure how good the conference is. That's another discussion on another board.

You can be sure that Liberty football is getting really really good when they go into App.State, CCU, JMU & Villanova's houses and have disappointed fans after winning only 3 out of 4 :D

I've been through seasons where we're 1-10 and the most exciting thing to happen during the game is a fried chicken fight in the student section.

I'm going to savor this one regardless of the outcome. A great effort by the boys to string together some really big wins and really should have won their game against Villanova. I'm thrilled with the way the boys played towards the end of the season.

The talent was there; this season was special because the attitude and culture was too. Proud of this team. We will be back to the playoffs next year. I buy into this staff and team.

On the other hand, I cannot exaggerate my disappointment in the realization that our MBB team is still a decade away from making us feel the same kind excitement and pride that this football team has.

I hope that the prospect of an FBS invite will fill the void of the Football offseason until baseball arrives.

Thank you and congratulations Flames football!

If I was a fan at the game, here would be my biggest concern.....

Riding back on a bus where everyone is soaking wet and probably 1/2 DIDNT get up on time to take shower before they left

Considering it just happened two seasons ago, this is a little bit of an exaggeration...

Exactly. Hate to see our season end, but we had a great few games under difficult circumstances, on the road, and as underdogs. Great season. I am very proud of this team.

Somewhere I thought I saw that we had played the 2nd toughest schedule in FCS. Not for certain about that but nonetheless we did great this year. Robertson's 2 dead ducks that went for long TDs killed us . . . and as mentioned once or twice the 3rd and 1 call :?

Planning my trip to WVU.

Wow. Frustrating game...so close...I actually think we were one dropped interception in the first half away from blowing them out of the water!! Also, if the TD that Petey got wasn't overtured...we would have only been down by 3...and I bet we would have tried a 67 yd fg from the 50 on the last play!!

That being said...great season. Win at Appy State...Win at Coastal...Win at JMU. One score loss at Nova. The future is bright!!!

This loss stung a lot but not as long as I expected it to, I don't know what I'm going to do with my Saturdays until baseball season starts. That was an awesome season and I was just glad to be a part of it. I'm already excited to be back in my spot at The Bill right behind Jerry's Jokers.

I'm definitely going to WVU next year.

I'm making plans to be in town for homecoming 2015...hopefully with the rest of the family in tow.

I don't mind the playcalling honestly. Obviously, most everyone would go for it on 3rd and 1, which is why I'm fine with taking a chance. Gill took that chance and ultimately it hurt us. But had that play worked, everyone would be talking about how ballsy a play that was. I like a coach that takes chances. And by the way, taking those kind of chances has led to big wins the past couple of weeks.

Villanova has more talent than us. They've played a much better season too. I'm just glad that we hung in there. We're still a growing program, baby steps.

We were dominating the in the first half up 13-0, we drop what should have been an Int. & 2 plays later we give up the 87 yard play. They score and kick off and we fumble now it is 14 -13 just like that.

I know we are all excited to have made it this far but I know we had a good chance to still be playing.

Negative. Go back and watch replay. They had 3 down lineman, the backers vacated towards receivers. If Josh runs straight up the gut we get the 1 yard and we're still driving.

Villanova had 3 players that were definitely better than any of ours individually (Robertson, Monangai, and Cherry). Of the 60+ remaining on each sideline, we were slightly better overall.

I am OK with throwing the ball in that situation, even though personally I would much rather that we call a running play. If that play call was a screen, slants, or any number of different combinations and we didn't convert on 3rd down, the play would have been recognized as a missed opportunity and then quickly forgotten. But running a 10 yard fade to Shells on 3rd and 1? Seriously?

The defense was opportunistic and solid for three quarters. There were busted coverages/poor tackling, but we were in the game. In the fourth, the playcalling and tackling got much, much worse worse and that played a huge role in why we lost the game.

Plus 1000. Said it during the game - a fade to shells who was visibly limping earlier? What I wonder but we will never know is if the play had a different first option and josh decided to test the one on one coverage.

Fantastic season. Congrats to the team and coaches!

Villanova proved they were better team on the day. Their four turnovers allowed Liberty to keep it close, but their back-breaking final drive was reminiscent of Liberty's from last week. They DOMINATED the LOS, and shoved it down Liberty's throat on way down field for winning score. That was defining of their slight superiority on just this day.

That said, nice season. See y'all in Morgantown!
Are we back?

We back!
