I wish I could steal Mike Minyard's FB video and post here. If you are friends with him, go see it. It shows our section on the 4th down play, and WOW!

I will say that I am very glad we have a great place like LU for families to come to a FB game. Let's just say my 10year old was exposed to a lot of interesting stuff. Dudes guzzling from all kinds of bottles and staggering around. 2 of whom openly cursed at me and him. Lots of cursing as we walked around. some directed at us for daring to wear red. One friend was mooned while walking over to the stadium.. I know we always have to deal with it, but come on. Thankful for LU.

I will say there are a lot of great JMU fans too. We ran into 2 somewhere down 81 at a McDonalds. My son left his tablet in the booth, and the kind JMU fan brought it out to this LU fans car.

I just got attendance figures for JMU-LU game. 13,040. Richmond and JMU both hosted and drew a combined attendance of roughly 17,000. If LU had hosted, more than that would have been in Williams Stadium. I hope NCAA takes note.

With the students gone we would not have gotten 17,000.

Late to the party, but it's Monday and I'm still very excited. What a great game to witness in person. Great camaraderie in the crowd, we were slapping high fives with everyone after that last defensive stop and were loud all game. The FCS Playoff atmosphere is intense. After all the tough losses since my first LU game in 2003, it feels surreal to be enjoying the success we're having. One image from the JMU game that will forever be seared in our memory is the pass breakup by Kenny Scott to seal the win on the last Dukes drive. What a play! I don't think I want this season to end, just want us to keep on rolling. #BeatNova

This is the first opportunity that I have had to comment on the game.

Since I was at a wedding from 2 until 4, we had to watch the game on replay. So, all of us turned off our phones at 4. We didn't get home until 7ish and our phones had to stay off until we finished watching the game (probably around 10:30 or so). Even though we had to watch the replay, that game was the most joyous experience I've ever had as a Liberty fan. This is going to be a game that we'll ask each other, "Do you remember where you were when Liberty beat JMU in playoffs?"

A few weeks ago, a select number of you wanted Gill fired. Fast-forward to now and look at what Gill has accomplished. He's beaten an FBS opponent (App State), he's won the auto-bid from the Big South conference, he's gotten us into playoffs, we beat an in-state non-conference opponent, we beat JMU, we won a playoff game, and we'll end the season ranked. He doesn't deserve a life-time contract (no one does), but can some of you at least admit that you were wrong in calling for him to be fired? If some of you already admitted that, I apologize for not having the time to read through everything yet.

Saturday was the best day to be an LU fan. We've had success in basketball, we've had success in baseball, we've had some success in the non-major sports. But we've never really ever had success in football. At this point, I hope we take down every "co-Big South champion sign/banner." We have actually achieved something in football. The timing couldn't be better either (C-USA).

I have never liked the term "co-champion". That means you were tied with someone.

I recall a team I played on in the Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in late 70's. We tied for first place with 4 other teams, all with one loss each. We did not make playoffs after finishing 5th in tie breakers. Felt as if we won nothing.

Also, at one point I posted a list of all the players that Gill has shut-down since arriving at Liberty. Go ahead and add Vad Lee to that list. With the exception of one quarter, JMU couldn't move the ball. Lee's body language in the 4th quarter, was that of a quarterback who couldn't buy a productive play. He was sacked time and time again. Some of it was due to Withers' play-calling but Vad Lee has become just another name to add to the list of players that our defense has shut-down over the past few years.

Secondly, we lost the turnover battle 4/1 on Saturday. Being minus three in turnovers almost always equates to a loss. Yet, Woodrum's confidence stayed in-tact and he helped piece together an incredible drive at the end of the game. I don't think we'll face a team as good at creating turnovers as JMU. Additionally, two of those turnovers were fumbles. Fumbles are curable and a week of practice should fix Woodrum's interceptions.

Nova will be a different beast than JMU was, but if we fix our turnovers, I like our chances.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm sure JB would have done (or tasked KK with) whatever it took to get a ton of butts in the seats. if that scenario with us playing Sam Houston played out, and we ended up hosting, I think pretty much every radio station within a two hour radius would have a block of tickets to give away for starters...that's just my thought on the matter though

LU has reached the point, that if only 17,000 show up, it's considered a "bad crowd", in my opinion.

My first chance to post anything since the game on Saturday... 3 things about the game

1) Kenny Scott interception ruined any further chance of JMU scoring before half - huge play! A lot of people were confused why there wasn't a receiver within 10 yards of the pass... it's because Scott jammed his receiver at the line and it completely ruined his route. Scott played one of the best games of his life.

2) Fake field goal could not have been more perfect. I was shocked honestly. I am so used to LU coaches not call gutsy trick plays, and Gill really pulled it off perfectly. Could not have been more perfectly executed by Javan.

3) Josh picks up fumble at 2 yd line and runs it back to the line of scrimmage... are you kidding me? My heart dropped to the my stomach when the D-lineman fell on the ball only to have it bounce out and into Josh's hands. Unreal play.

Refs made some very difficult calls that were very close for both teams, but at the end of the day they didn't dictate the game. The better team won and that was us. We showed that perfectly with an 11 minute drive at the end of the game. I have never seen anything like that before in my life. Unreal.

All in all - one of the best sporting event experiences of my life. So glad I was able to make the trip with my dad who is becoming more and more of an LU fan. Liberty football is on the map and it couldn't be at a more perfect time. #RoadtoFrisco continues through Philadelphia... GO FLAMES!

That is one of those moments that will be remembered for a very long time for sure...and this is a game that can only boost our recruiting pitches going forward, because as I said in another discussion, now the coaches can really tout the "next step", whether its further in the playoffs or even FBS (which though it has been mentioned in pitches before, lacked quite a bit of substance)

Difference maker TODD MACON - spelling DJ was huge and that drive was all about him and his extra 25 lbs frame slamming into the JMU defense, keeping his feet moving but also going straight ahead and the OL fat boys were ready to eat. When the fat boys up front get hungry and saw that they were able to go BOB(big on big) they really dug into their defensive front.

Yes forbidden, but I think this one does not ring as hollow because the tie broke our way thanks to the win over Coastal and we got the AQ

Neither CCU or JMU nor Richmond earned their playoff berth by being a champion. All had to be at mercy of selection committe and get invitation to playoffs.

Find one place where anyone said that he should be fired. This keeps coming up, but I haven't found one quote yet.

I have not seen any explicitly state that outright, but I believe a few references to whether or not he was the man for the job (tacit endorsement of his firing) could be had

You don't have to say, "Liberty should fire Gill" verbatim to insinuate that you want him fired.

I believe there was even a thread started prior to the season, about how Gill could be on the hot seat if he doesn't make playoffs. I would have been fine having that discussion if we missed playoffs, at the end of the season. But my comments are directed at the ones who wanted that discussion before the end of the season.
