Huh. Unbeknownst to me I had lunch with Coach Withers at SaladCreations about a month ago. I sorta guess this is how Sly feels.

Vad will be by far the best player we have seen all year. Possibly one of the best players in the last Decade. While a FB player on a team usyally doesn't make that big of a difference, nth is cat is going to have the ball on every offensive possession. Plus, he runs very well. And we are hit and miss (usually miss) on our run defense.

What is the TV scenario? I won't be able to get to this game. I have to see it though. Purple you are right about Lee though. He is the absolute TRUTH! He is going to be tough to stop.

I'm not in the prediction game anymore. All I know is this is going to be a good one and I fully expect my stomach to be in knots the entire time.

Saw JMU 2X in person. Well coached team, but can be sloppy at times. Must take advantage of those situations. Very athletic, speedy defense. Line is active but not the best we've seen. Can expose their pass D. Pretty tough on the run, but not the best we've seen. Running back tandem are both very good. Lee will hurt you through the air before his legs. Crowd is usually pitiful and we can and will overpower them. We can beat them, but mistakes, penalties, and TOs will kill us.

Um. Yes.
No. He's better. Much better.
Lee will be the best quarterback since Heinicke (ODU). He will be a Payton Award finalist with a very good shot to win it.

If our folks show up the way I expect, there won't be a significant homefield advantage.

And I believe Rooster was at yesterday's game. So his observations are very fresh.

With the exception of Lee, the Dukes are actually a senior-laden team. That is good news for us when they arrive at Williams Stadium next fall. It is bad news for us this Saturday. I agree with the previously stated sentiments in regard to JMU being better than many of the seeded teams ... including CCU.

He'll be the best QB since Gino (WVU). And some guy from Marshall.

Heinicke struggled to move the ball against us last year. He threw two picks and was awful in the red-zone.

Vad Lee is better but let me say something about our defense. Every time our defense faces one of these, "dominant players," we shut them down.

Marquise Williams really struggled in the first half (which is how you judge an FCS vs FBS game due to roster sizes). He threw two picks against us and only gained 169 yards.

Remember all the talk about Dri Archer from Kent State? I know he got injured against us but he was only 3 carries for 10 yards when he was in the game.

Miguel Maysonet had 25 carries and only gained 74 yards, including 4 runs for a loss. Essington didn't even throw for 50% and he threw for four picks.

And then on Saturday, everyone from Coastal wouldn't shut up about Alex Ross (and deservedly so). He went 13 for 22, had 173 yards passing and a touchdown. They ran the ball 15 times with him and only gained 60 yards. They were 5/12 on third down, 1/3 in the red-zone and gained just over 300 yards. One of their two touchdowns was off a turnover.

Yes, our defense has struggled at times. BUT they've also come up big against some of the best players that they've faced with Gill's staff.

Chad Pennington, whose Marshall team beat LU 63-3.
Both ended up Jets. Hmmm

Only thing that scares me is that the QB Lee coming from GT knows how to run the option and if JMU has any option stuff in the playbook its coming out this saturday, and that def scares me.

According to Lang's front page article, the hosting decision came down to dollars and cents, and JMU simply outbid us.
Schools submit their bids to host 10 days in advance of selection Sunday. The committee pairs opponents, and once the pairings are made, the envelopes are opened, and the higher bid wins. JMU made the higher bid.

“I was surprised,” Barber said. “We put in a very, very healthy bid. So I was surprised.”
