Cider Jim has referenced this a couple of times, but Hardee's appearance on Jeopardy is apparently a big deal down in Kinston, NC.

Today is officially “Catherine Ruth Hardee Day” in Kinston.

Mayor B.J. Murphy issued the proclamation to honor Hardee, who appears on tonight’s episode of “Jeopardy.”

“We’re certainly proud of Ms. Hardee, and we are expecting big results (to)night, and I hope that our community crosses their fingers for a big win,” Murphy said.

The proclamation cites Hardee’s master’s degree in history from Liberty University and earning most valuable player status three years while part of Liberty’s Quiz Bowl team.

A local woman will be competing on Jeopardy and you can see her in action Tuesday night.

Catherine Ruth Hardee of Kinston will be a contestant on the game show.

Hardee is a graduate of Liberty University where she was a member of the quiz bowl and debate team.

The Kinston native said being a member of the quiz bowl at the Virginia university helped prepare her the competition.

The Novice Quiz Bowl team and I watched the game in the Hancock Welcome Center theater. Catherine led the whole game until Final Jeopardy, but missed that last question.

Still she ended her run $97,201 richer, which is not bad money for a week's worth of work, especially when you are only working 30-minute days.

Congratulations to my former Quiz Bowler, Catherine Hardee, who was a 4-time Jeopardy Champion!

Actually she probably did it all in one or two days...they film multiple shows in one day.

Yes, it was on two separate days. They film 4 shows per day, and she was on for 5 episodes. She flew out once with her mom and then flew back out with her dad.

She even made a Bloopers clip:
