I didn't waste my time going to this one but I'm super excited that we sucked by the way our score looks!!!! These guys don't need a high score game because they always play like crap after...

The offense played better this game. Of course you have to consider the opponent, but I thought that the play calling was better than in games past. Not much negative. We did what we needed to do.

Extremely poor showing from the defense. Some of it was undisciplined play against the option; part of it unfamiliarity with the offense and some of it was poor play calling. Nevertheless, most of it was because a lack of effort and toughness. A poor D-II team manhandled our defensive line and corners; the linebackers didn't play much better. We could not stop the fullback or the quarterback because we would not fit the gaps or defend the pitchman/sideline properly and then we would not tackle. Brevard's offense was much tougher than our defense the entire game. If we don't get those two turnovers in the first quarter, they are probably within two scores of us the entire game.

This game (more than any since Concord) shows the dangers of playing down. We still think that we can turn on the switch and win when we want and it runs from the coaches down to the players; good FCS teams don't do that against poor FCS teams let alone D-II teams. We're falling into the same trap that has caused us to miss the playoffs in years past. Until that is eradicated, we're going to keep having games like this and falling short in games that matter.

Poor gameplan from wimberley and he never adjusted. We were content to let them get 3-5 all night. We couldve turned up the heat and filled the gaps and forced the issue. That game left me really concerned about that style offense. You have to think csu and some of the other teams that dabble in that will take note of our struggles. Woodrum looked good on deep balls and his location was the best ive seen. The wrs didnt drop passes and lunsford looked good on kickoffs. Fgs are still a huge problem. Thats gonna cost us a game if we dont get it figured out.

That was the other snarky point I intended to make: nice to see 49 back and shanking fgs again

Offense did look good (woodrum's numbers were phenomenal, probably a perfect qbr) but you gotta consider the level of competition. Good to see the run game get established.

Will have to look it up, but I believe this is the most points we have allowed to a d2 in a very long time.

Woodrum is well on his way to entering the top 5 in passing yards, and the screen game looked better tonight. Now to run it on a d1 defense...

Zac Parker...man he can fly...that touchdown took 11 seconds...and he slowed up I think the last 10 yards so that could have been a sub 4.3 during that run

Abnar...really showed out tonight as well.

I will add my disappointment to the defensive play tonight...were not executing and will leave it at that

Hopefully with d2s going the way of the dodo on our schedule (unless somebody dumps us at the last minute again) we can upgrade the opponent quality and get more butts in the seats. Montana is a good start next year

At least on TV it looked like the students did show up for at least a half. It was the Baptist side that thought it might melt in a little drizzle that was disappointing.

And here is the recap from the SIDs:

Timely passing and a persistent rushing attack helped Liberty open its 2014 home schedule with a 56-31 victory over Brevard, Saturday evening at Williams Stadium.

With the win, Liberty moves to 2-1 on the season. The Flames defeated Brevard in back-to-back home games, as Liberty closed its 2013 schedule against last November. Brevard falls to 0-2 on the season, following its second loss in a row to an FCS opponent.

The fanbase needs quality name games; "Who's Bryant???" Our student attendance drops significantly when we play any Big South team outside of Coastal. Everyone, especially the hardcore students who rally the campus for games, is sick of watching beat downs of hapless opponents that they don't care about.

When we play good opponents, attendance is one of the best in FCS. Reward the ones who come; they're the future.

Great job getting to the real story line, Chris. This quote frustrates me a bit but I get why he chose to not put in packages especially for the triple option:
NewsAdvance.com wrote:“Looking back on it, I still think I made the right decision,” Wimberly said. “I was able to play multiple guys and keep it simple for some guys, because we had some guys playing multiple positions because of depth.”
