Just a play on names, guys, since Jacob Hagen is our star player.

On the TV broadcast, they highlighted that during the off-season, Erin McKeown became a Hagen and Jacob Hagen just so happened to make a couple of awesome plays.

Memo to self: Be careful telling a joke with a straight face.

And I thought I was being good not joking about the 'older woman-younger man' thing....

yeah...could have worked on the execution a bit too but not bad for a first attempt.

As to the game and the aftermath, the entire defensive line got Big South DPotW for the second time ever today

It's my bad. I should have used quotation marks for "husband" in the original post to clue people in.

As punishment, I'm going to ban myself from the construction cams and thread for 12 hours.

That stuff is addictive.....a digital 'Ant Farm.'

bluejacket wrote:I believe that I said this before in another thread a couple of weeks ago. Gabe Henderson is the lynchpin of our offense. Peterson and Shells are not great possession receivers (Darrin is much more than Dante). We need Gabe to help take the heat off of our other receivers and running backs through intermediate and short passes and be the explosive player that he can be. He has had a couple drops, but he also hasn't been targeted very much. If he can't turn it around, we'll need the TEs to get some more action in order to help fix the passing attack.

Henderson stats so far: 5 catches for 47 yards.

TE stats:
Herman: 5 for 66 yards
Couamin: 1 for 8 yards
I think you just answered your own question in regards to our #2 WR spot. You say he has drops, but hasn't been targeted. Well that could be the reason that he hasn't been targeted that much. The use of the spread is to get the ball into the hands of your most explosive players, and so far IMO, Petey has been the best of the WR's that we have on the roster, Gabe has been the second best, but not targeted for whatever reason. Dante is iffy, becuz of his hands, but has good speed. There must be some reason why Justin Fritts has not been able to crack the lineup, because we have been seeing DK and Zac Parker. On the outside, this year, I think that kid BJ Farrow, becauase of his (may not even be a word) go getitness would have been real helpful. Bottom line is they have to keep on getting coached up and working hard. Sure Coach T isn't letting them rest on their laurels.

So far after two games this year, which is still a lil bit early, the Secondary has been better than what was originally thought of.

#27 - Hagen - Undoubted, leader in the secondary and holds it together back there making sure everyone is lined up correctly to say the least, as the last line of defense. Making plays bottom line

#5 - Sampson - In only his sophomore campaign, really holding down that SS spot on the field, with his playmaking and tackling in run support.

#14 - Scott - One half of the law firm, this Sr is holding his own on his half of the field. Solid vs UNC, but hurt vs. NSU

#23 - Guillory - He has come off a RS Frosh season and seems to make very few mistakes on the field, when guarding his man.

#21 - Scott - The other half of the law firm, this Sophomore has been tasked with Kenny's old job, of guarding the other teams slot WR(wiggle guy). Has done a good job of being in his spot, not afraid to come up in run support and helped hold UNC's Switzer to under 50 yds rec.

#6 - Holloway - Big, tall good looking corner in the mode of Aikens from last year, also coming off a RS Frosh year, getting his feet wet in games, and as long as he can stay healthy will be good.

#38 - Jalloh - Not on team last year has come in making plays in a reserve role, proving that when on the field behind Sampson, it may not be that much of a drop off.

#11 - James - Besides my own kid, I really like this guy, a true Freshman who is getting his feet wet, playing and learning behind a real good one in Jacob Hagen. I like his playing style and his aggression as a safety and his playing pedigree (Byrnes HS). I don't think the games are too big for him. He will be a good one, as long as he stays healthy.

I think that throws Mike Tilley for a loop as well. He mentioned that it is confusing during the game.

Is the game being shown on replay somewhere? I was at a FlamesNation member wedding on Saturday and didn't get to see it. If it was a family member wedding or even my own, I would have probably skipped it and watched the game. But FlamesNation takes priority. (For the humor challenged out there, and there are a few on this board based on this thread alone, I am JOKING about the skipping part).

As far as the comments on the TV production it is difficult to incorporate new talent in the booth and on the field. Give them some time. I think they will gel. Based on being around the Game On guys since they have come to Virginia and watching the show, they have a lot of talent and charisma that hopefully will translate to in game telecasts. It is harder than it looks believe me.

Yeah mine are too young to help with electronics now...

I saw Turner Gill on Game On last night. He will be appearing on there each Monday after game weekends from what I understand. They will probably do the same with Coach Layer once the season starts. Check out Game On if you guys haven't btw. I think it is a pretty good show. I DVR and watch it every day. I have popped up as an analyst a few times on there myself.

Im sure scribe or one of the FN guys can find out about Kenny's status for this weekend if it was not mentioned on the show last night. My guess is that with it being Brevard, if he has to be held out, it won't kill us too much. Having him for Bryant would be best at this juncture.
