It pains me to say this since but:

NC 51
LU 17

375 yards

NC is rated in just about every poll somewhere between 20-25. I don't remember playing a ranked FBS team before.

I believe UCF was ranked with Daunte Culpepper later in the year after we played them ... ditto for the '89 Eastern Michigan team we beat. Neither ranked when we squared off.

I was at that game in Huntington with my dad--at least for the first half. LU lost 63-3.

Coach Sam joked that when he scheduled the game, he thought Chad Pennington would have graduated by then.

I know I'm in the minority when I say this, but I have always believed in Liberty's ability to get up for these FBS/1A games, especially against the former BCS AQ schools in the last 8 seasons. I don't see the ODU result as a mandat eon how we would perform against the Heels. I think we shock a lot of people and keep this one close right to the last part of the 4th quarter before losing

Liberty 24
UNC 34

350 combined yards

1st Quarter: UNC - Oh Yeah, we are BIG, BAD & Ranked. (Oh Crap, Liberty came to play!!)
2nd Quarter: UNC - I guess we need to show why we are ranked... (They begin to have Liberty's #)
3rd Quarter: UNC - the expected happens.
4th Quarter: UNC- Yeah, we all saw this coming.

UNC - 38
LIB - 13

357 Combined yards

My Hope & Prayers- their inexperienced OL, allows our DEF to keep their running game in check. They overlook our Run game due to lack of depth and focus on our throw, opening up "D.J." for the game of his career!!

51-7. The spread offense will likely give us fits. I also see special teams playing a huge role in this one. I don't think we'll kick to their return guys because they're very very good. Doing a squib kick will set them up with good field position. Hope I'm wrong.

I mentioned this in the game preview thread, but this could really open up some options in the passing game. I believe Walker and Lawrence are both upperclassmen so they will be very young on the outside. If they shade the safeties to give backside help, that opens up lanes for the running game because we can go hat on hat, but it also could open the middle of the field for the tight ends and even for Gabe in the slot because he will likely be in single coverage
