Sorry...getting back to the topic at hand, with only one slot to fill for 2015, I would love to see us take a flyer at William and Mary for that last spot...Im still mad about that call in the last meeting in 2008

You're still made about a call from six years ago? I wish you a more fulfilled life. I would think your baby would keep things interesting in that house.

See how that comes across, Beej?

If you had not misspelled Mad (made) it would make more sense...and actually my son does keep things interesting (he started walking while we were in NC last week and apparently seems to enjoy exploring the trash for more things to put in his mouth...that said, I'll remove the post and apologies to postie (although I still am not in it for your entertainment) for the tenor of my comments

As to the topic at hand, I was looking at an interesting spreadsheet one of the fellows on another board came up with and we lost a lot of production on the defensive side of the ball from last year. Will really be interesting who steps up from the younger players in 2014, as well as Hagen and Big Stack (who are both preseason All-Americans) backing up the hype they are receiving.

Anyway...I took a stab at the starting lineup over on AGS.

QB Josh Woodrum 6-3 210 Lbs R-Junior Roanoke, VA
RB DJ Abnar 5-10 185 Lbs Junior Tallahassee, FL
FB Nicky Fualaau 6-0 220 Lbs Junior Federal Way, WA
WR Darrin Peterson 6-2 190 Lbs Junior Attala, AL
WR Dante Shells 6-1 175 Lbs Sophomore Camden, DE
WR Gabe Henderson 5-11 195 Lbs Senior Garner, NC
TE Dexter Herman 6-3 240 Lbs Senior Beaver Springs, PA
OL Max Sommer 6-6 300 Lbs Senior Hamburg, Germany
OL Greg Ray 6-3 300 Lbs Senior Pearisburg, VA
OL Grant Jones 6-5 310 Lbs Junior Madison Heights, VA
OL Mitch Hanson 6-5 300 Lbs Senior, Blue Ridge, VA
OL Aharown Campbell 6-5 325 Lbs. Sophomore Teaneck, NJ

(Note: I am aware that I have 12 players listed for offense. I decided to include both the fullback and the third receiver for point of reference)

DL Dominique Davis 6-5 285 Lbs Senior Buffalo, NY
DL Jaron Greene 6-2 310 Lbs Sophomore Beaumont, TX
DL Chima Uzowihe 6-2 250 Lbs Junior Houston, TX
DL Toby Onyechi 6-2 270 Lbs R-Senior West Orange, NJ
LB Nick Sigmon 6-1 245 Lbs. R-Senior Roanoke, VA
LB Andrew Jauch 6-1 215 Lbs. Senior Waxhaw, NC
LB Jimmy O'Grady 6-0 225 Lbs. Senior Mechanicsville, MD
CB Kenny Scott 5-10 180 Lbs. Senior Appamattox, VA
CB Wesley Scott 5-10 175 Lbs. Sophomore Lorton, VA
S Jacob Hagen 6-3 205 Lbs. Senior Orange Park, FL
S Gary Sampson 5-11 190 Lbs. Sophomore Miami, FL

K John Lunsford 6-1 180 Lbs Junior Ft. Myers, FL (will be suspended first two games...replaced by either Avery Echols or Shane Blanchard)
P Trey Turner 5-11 195 Lbs. R-Freshman Rome, GA

I may have double listed a couple positions but that's my best guess

Do lineups have anything to do with expectations or is it more of depth discussion? I'll let sly and other mods handle this but if it were me I would make lineups a separate topic. Please mods and sly get going on this ASAP we don't want this board going to hell for lack of proper management.

I would expect everyone on our roster to actually be on our roster. I also do not expect them to change names. But that is my expectation every year. The fact that we have a roster with the names of people on it in no way influences my expectations of wins and loses.
So really what our lazy mods need to do is define 'expectations' Study

I think 9 wins is certainly possible. I picked 10 when the schedule came out but I dont expect anything less than 9. I do wonder how DJ will do getting the lion's share of the carries, although if Macon, Kaigler or Mosley can show the kind of ability that AA had before all his issues (and that leg injury), that will give us some much needed power to complement the speed of Abnar.

We need a consistent running game for this offense to function properly. The offensive line and Fualaau need to have monster years for us and impose their will on the opposing defense. Macon and Mosley (mostly Mosley) can bring strong running power, but they are going to need time building confidence behind a powerful offensive line and fullback. Our running game was not great last year and may even improve:

Kent State: 22 attempts for 33 yards (0 TDs) [T.O.P. 21:10]
Richmond: 28 attempts for 145 yards (2 TDs) [28:06]
Old Dominion: 36 attempts for 106 yards (0 TDs) [33:14]
Coastal Carolina: 38 attempts for 233 yards (4 TDs) [35:36]
Charleston Southern: 39 attempts for 182 yards (5 TDs) [39:01]

11 rushing TDs out of 36 total rushing TDs came against the five best defenses that we faced.

Tanner Hartman will have something to say about this.

It will be interesting t see how he does in the position battle (will be something to see two former LCA Bulldogs up front and a third in the backfield in Mosley), but I've never been one to just drop somebody in because they came from an FBS school. My question is will he be a hit (like Rashad Jennings, Walt Aikens, SRL or those linemen we got early in the DR days) or will he be a miss (like Richardson or one that particularly dates me...Paul Troth)

This staff has shown that they will give transfers the benefit of doubt when it comes to playing time (chief ex. last season is Richardson, but also Chris Robinson). Richmond was keen to get him before he finally decided to come here, so they have likely given him some assurances that he will play immediately barring something unforeseen happening. I doubt that Grant Jones will be starting next season.

He may, but I would say Jonathon Burgess, who is a team captain and was 2nd team all BSC last year as a Soph, will almost certainly start. With the addition of Hartman and several who were Redshirted as Freshmen last year, depth on the OL should be a strength. I also think this may be the first time we start an O line with no one under 300 pounds.
