There are a few things that need to be worked on but at the very least, we have made another step in the right direction

BJ...BJ, where are you; nothing to say? No if's and's or but's, could have...should have...would have...nothing? You call this progress; two wins in the big South Tournament; no wins in the regionals. Cat got your tongue. Or have you come to your senses and realize this team was way overrated.

ProudFlame wrote:While it is true that this season didn't end as expected, it was an amazing season. If you knew these young men, you'd know that they did not get bogged down in press clippings and hype...they are humble, yet very competitive guys. If you knew Coach Toman, you'd know that he does care about conference championships...he wants to win every game. If you had been at today's game and had seen our team's heartbreak afterwards, you'd understand the heart, soul, sweat and countless hours of practice and community service that is dedicated to the baseball program and to the school. Most importantly, you'd see the lifelong friendships that have developed, the commitment to one another and the shared pain of a season that ended too soon. I'm super proud that my son is a part of this program. THANK YOU to this year's team for a fun and exciting year.
I don't want to let this post go without commenting on it.

ProudFlame, I completely understand your perspective. I have met many dads over the years who had very similar opinions and viewpoints as you whether it be baseball, basketball, football, or whatever. College athletics are special because of those friendships, that commitment, and the shared experience with other people.

What I want you and your son to know is that any criticism of a player is based solely on how they performed and not who they are. Separating performance and the person can be extremely hard, especially when you're personally connected to the player, but it's important to recognize in this case. Many of us, myself include, have been and will be critical of how our season ended. That is not a criticism of who these guys are, only how they played or how the coaches have coached.

Kids from an early age are told to hit the off speed pitch up the middle or even to the opposite field and not be tempted to pull or swing for the fences. Knowing that and doing that for those who have played at high levels will know it's not always that easy, especially if your sitting on number 1.

CHARLOTTESVILLE — As he tried to process his team’s two-and-out showing at the Charlottesville Regional Saturday afternoon, Liberty baseball coach Jim Toman gave a good glimpse into the life of a mid-major program trying to work its way into the national conversation.

Switching between the UVa-MD game and the Ole Miss-ULL game. I've got to say, UL-L has maybe the ugliest baseball uniform that I've ever seen.

They are hideous. But the kids seem to like them down there in the Atchifalaya Basin. If someone invented camo diapers, they would immediately sell out of the shelves in Laffy.

My alma maters UVa and Ole Miss are both going to the College World Series. Sorry, Smoothie, but I've got to pull for the Rebs in this one--their first time in the CWS in 42 years.
