While university presidents & ADs aren't trolling around the message boards of other schools, I can tell you that influential donors and often board members do. So things being leaked can have an indirect impact on proceedings based on my past experience.

For the record, my silence in general on news related to this SBC expansion is not an accident and is not being forced upon me. Our school's fate is still very much in question in relation to the upcoming vote. We are still actively working to obtain the 9 votes required for admission to the Sun Belt.

Hence, my silence at this point. Let's just say, things are looking positive yet there is still work to do.

No one asked me, but I for one appreciate any positive nugget no matter how vague it is. Don't go Postal!

That video of the ga Southern AD speaks directly to us when he says we don't won't to take a team just to get to 12 and the find out a couple years later there's a better fit that's available. I believe the SB stats at 11. Kills me to say it, but if that's the thinking of a school who we thought was on our side, the we're in trouble.

REALLY?! I've had enough bad news today, with the dumpster fire going on at Comcast Center right now(4 TRANSFERS!!!!!) and now this Sun Belt mess getting messier when I thought it was almost done. :frustrated :banghead :guntohead

I'm not the one to be optimistic around here, but I think that could apply to UMass, assuming that UMass is being discussed among the AD's and such.

I don't think the Sun Belt would determine in a couple years if whether or not we're a bad fit. However, that would make sense for a school like UMass or even JMU. We on the other hand are a long term option, not short term. I don't think we've been presented as "just a school to get to 12." I think we've been presented as a long-term member of the conference.

With the exception of the difference of beliefs, there really isn't anything about us that is a bad fit for the Sun Belt. Additionally, I don't think the GSU would have said those comments if the Sun Belt was set on 11 schools. They obviously want to get to 12, so who else would be available in the coming years? The only legitimate options that the Sun Belt has is us or UMass. And I don't think anyone would argue that UMass is a good fit.

I'm glad to just get some type of confirmation either way. It's not 100% confirmation, but it's pretty solid unless the AD and the pres. are on two different planets.

It's ain't over till the fat lady, or Benson sing.

The word of 1 AD means nothing right now. Especially when it's the same AD that said they voted to go to 12 now at the BBall tourney.

This is why :flamingdevil came out strong on their claim of JMU declining to be in the SBC and the fact LU has a majority vote in the SBC.
These mamby pamby "I know but can't say" or "I'm not saying anything because I know stuff I can't say" is why :flamingdevil is the one true path!! We make our claims and stick by them. If you don't have the Play Basketball to say something then you are not as important as you think you are. If you know information that you can't divulge, just like flatulence keep it to yourself.

IMO, the comments made by the Georgia Southern AD are either neutral or positive toward us. The fact that the football CCG is no longer the primary goal means UMass is most likely not very high on the list. Nothing he said makes me feel like he/they think(s) Liberty is not a good fit. It just sounds like there is probably discussion as far as whether we are a good enough fit to add now when Missouri State or Eastern Kentucky (both 1000 times better fits) could be ready to join in a couple of years.

And for the record, I have no problem with connected people saying "I heard something that's good for us, but can't give details." There are certain people that are known to have/be good sources, and if they say they heard something definitely good or bad, that's worth reading in my book.

That's the point We all know people who know people. No one cares if you know something you can not say. Either say what you know or keep you trap shut

I am totally fine with it if a trusted person says "I can't say much, but things are looking good from here." I would rather hear that than hear nothing at all. If a trusted source has to spell out exactly what they know/heard and how they learned it, then they're not a trusted source.

Who said they have to spell it out? Just say what you know. If your 'source' asks you not to say anything......then...don't...say.....ANYTHING. In my mind it's just away for people to feel important and show others how important they are. Child, please.

Ding ding. Great wisdom descending from the leader of the :flamingdevil Although I'm also going to say that I question the majority of the "I know something you don't know" people.

Although I did say I thought we had some work to do at FCS so, dear leader, if I can't be the flame, can I at least be a flicker? Pleaseeeeeeee?

This, all day long. I feel like when people say they know things that they can't talk about only do it to make themselves feel special. Even if that isn't the case that it how it appears. It saddens me really.
