But these media rights deals with the conferences make teams much less appealing to raiding conferences. There's no point in taking a school away from a conference if you don't also get it's media rights.

I think the major conferences will stay at 12-14 or in the case of the All Carolina Conference 15 until the grant of rights deals expire. After that FSU or Clemson and Texas or Baylor join the SEC. UVA and WVU go to the Big10 and the PAC-12 raids what's left of the Big 12 to go to 16,most likely OU,OSU, Texas Tech and either Texas or Baylor. The ACC takes UConn, Cincinnati and UCF and forces ND to become a full member to get to 16.
You heard it here first that's how it happens.

As much as I would LOVE to see WVU in the Big 10 I can't see it happening. As much as I hate to admit it that's where the whole Academics/Researcg Instituition thing rears its head. They wanted in the Big 10 or the ACC but that's what kept them out

Maybe Saban could make it illegal for WVU fans to attend conference games or for Bama to play in Lane?

Of course, it would be done out of concern for "player safety."

Nah, he's too busy selling cars these days.

The next big event for us will be the meetings at the Sun Belt conference tournament.

When is that? And what are the best case/worst case scenarios?

Also, I've been hearing some SMU +1 to Big 12 chatter. Sly, you're a texas guy. Do you know anything about that?

The thing I see in SMU's favor is that the Big 12 needs a title game and options are getting thin for expansion. Although I think personally Boise St and BYU would bring more to the conference than SMU would if they were to look in those directions.

Interesting that they put the new guys in charge. And they like us from what I understand. Too bad it's a relatively powerless position.
