I also think he's working harder than his seniors right now and that without their personality issues around next year, we'll be better off. Barber would have every right to get rid of him, but I would not be sad if he didn't make that move.
Fair enough. And for the record, I always root for all our coaches and players to succeed, I'm not hoping we lose out so that his seat gets even hotter. On the contrary I hope we win every remaining game and the big south tourney. I just don't see it happening.

Ha I can only imagine the conversations DL ends his seasons with every year. Jeff's probably like " hey Dale we've talked it over and were cutting your pay another 40k we don't really care about basketball and it's clear you don't either so just keep up the work and will move the extra assets to baseball and football " .... Btw how awkward would that be for Dales son if dad got the boot!?!?!

Did you all see the GWU game? Senior players with no competitive drive to hold home court and some think the coach is not the issue. Home losses are mounting, attendance at an completely embarrassing level. Basically 14-37 vs d1 & a 10th place BSC team in year 4 & 5 of an extremely well funded program. Maybe we have bought into a culture of mediocrity?

That track record is gibberish...right mr. "self proclaimed expert". Quite frankly until Tuesday I was for letting the year play out before stating that a change was in order. What the whole things on Saturday and again realizing the depths that JB/DL have spun this program to. If I was Jerry Jr It would be time to cut my losses and start over with a new AD. Then get a coach I know can bring talent to this program!

THIS^^^^^ Exactly! I think he is a great guy and a great coach. He's got a big class coming in (that may leave if he does). I just think you don't get rid of a perfect fit and a good coach knowing that it will be tough to bring someone better in.

Are you really that incompetent? The question of direction is answered.

Until Tuesday I never said make a change...I have noted that the program under JB/DL is not close to where it was under RD. In my line of work if one level of management is in place, the individual is supported until it is evident that the level of inefficiency is not meeting the standard of the corporation, then the position is opened up for a search of consensus on next direction. Unless they win the BSC Tournament we need a change and maybe even then. Anybody can do a google search and list names. but LU needs an AD. NO WAY WITH ALL OF RESOURCES WE SHOULD BE HERE. All options should be open to find our way forward. Some on here are glorified cheerleaders for mediocrity...this direction has failed, we are not competing on the court or there is no connection to the community. Tuesday, should have been a great night of basketball in Lynchburg (instead it was a another wasted opportunity) and Saturday should have been an "I got to see game" vs VMI.

Jeff Meyer... Rules are rules

So your solution is to fire the AD and as for the thread title you'd bring back a coach who has been here twice. Got it.

From a personal standpoint I do not want to see Layer get fired cause I have friends on the staff..however from a basketball standpoint I think the ship has sailed. I am split if I see him getting fired this year based on the class coming in, but if I am the AD I am thinking about it pretty hard. I will be relieved to see Davon and JCS and that selfish style of play gone. I have never been a fan of it.

Lblifer the program from a pure basketball standpoint might have been better, however the integrity of the program was greatly compromised during the RD years THATS A FACT!!!

the question isnt about direction, its about who (as in a name) would you suggest for the next coach. If you think the AD should be fired, that is another story for another thread (and still needs a name). If you think RD (Jeff Meyer) should be brought back, just say so since that seems to be what you want and has been from the get go, although to be frank going back to the future isnt what this program needs

I for one am a fan of JB. I believe he is a top notch AD and am happy with all the things he has brought to the table. Now, with that said, I believe he does need to make a move with DL. 5 years is plenty of time and he is below .500 in those years. RD is NEVER coming back. He is in real estate now. If he was such a good coach LBL, then why is he in Real Estate. I am starting to wonder if LBL is RD?????!!!
