Baseball starts Friday. :D :D :D
The nachos aren't any better at the baseball stadium.....
True, but I bet we don't finish as one of the worst teams in the BSC, or in any conference for that matter. :D :D

How about Ben Miller of UNC Pembroke, worked under Roy Williams and Bill Self while at Kansas his dad coached at Ohio state around the late 70's or early 80's

Bigsouthking wrote:You guys talk about some of the dumbest stuff... All those playing this year won the tournament last year, except for Speaks. So I would say they are good enough, most of their roster is from all over already, if you like that.
And it's blatantly obvious that the tournament run was a classic example of a team getting hot at the right time as opposed to a team capable good finally playing good. They are 9-16 this year and they were 11-20 in the regular season last year. That's a combined 20-36. A 4-game set in the Big South Tournament doesn't all of a sudden mean this is a team capable of being good all the time when compared to a 56-game set of essentially crap.

Not bad...same question as with Coach Moton for me

If Layer isn't fired by the morning, it's obvious to me that Jeff Barber doesn't care about winning. Tonight was the most pathetic game I've ever watched inside of Vines. I understand and appreciate the value of keeping a head coach, despite one or two bad seasons, but this is ridiculous. We need someone who not only values Liberty and our morals, but we need someone who is concerned with winning and recruiting local talent. There are so many good teams in this state, that there is no excuse for getting abused on our home court by some "middle of the pack" Big South team.

There are a couple of problems with that. The most immediate being who do we have on the bench that could take over even as an interim? Or do we bring Manley back out of the broadcast booth? Or Naz? Or Scar?

Just curious, why does it matter who takes over with 5 games left? Why not just give the reins to Olinger for a few weeks? Worst case scenario; we lose our next five games. If we play like we did tonight, we're losing the next five games anyways. I would be fine with you taking over as an interim. We need to make a statement fire, and let people know that we won't tolerate this type of effort. I don't mind losing, it's the effort that's killing me.

It sorta does make a difference. You think it was bad tonite, and it was by any measurement, what happens when you put a young guy in who everyone knows has no authority and won't be here next year? There is more to running a program than what goes on during game days

Or just tell Layer to resign instead of firing him... Then all pressure is off everyone. Joyce could do it for remainder of season.... I watched the game tonight I didn't see one adjustment throughout 40 mins..... Does Layer ever talk to staff during games????

You don't fire a coach this close to the end of the season. He will be fired, but it won't be before the season is over.

So no playoffs for football, 10th place for Hoops, the $$$$ they spend and no changes will be made..... Obviously Jr doesn't care and the AD is protecting his bad hires. Sad sad sad. LU deserves to be bad then.

Purple, I think you're missing my point. I don't care how much worse it could possibly get for the next five games. In fact, I could make the argument that the players might get motivated for a young coach that doesn't necessarily have the right to be the coach. Even if the whole team quits and we have to forfeit the rest of the season, it's five games. If we lost by 80 points for each of the next five games, does it really make a difference in the long run?

I think the worse thing you can do is fire him right now. Let him finish out the season, make the change, etc. If we win our next 5 games, we still aren't going anywhere. A firing at the end of the season is a strong enough message. IMVVVHO.

That run last year was a fluke. That ain't happen this year. The team will be lucky to win a game the rest of the year. First round exit in Conway is in our future. This is coming from a very optimistic guy. That's how bed the season has been.

LBL, Im going to ask this anyway even though I know youre not going to answer but, even if Jerry Jr did fire JB (which would probably requre some form of temporary insanity on his part), who would be his replacement (I need a name here)? You can't remove someone without having some idea of who you would be looking for as a potential candidate for the job.
