Everyone pretty much knew what they had in Oliver, but Amir Johnson is their X-factor. If he can play like this ona nightly basis they should make some noise in league play. Thanks for the eyewitness accounts, guys.

Don't know about that LUconn but you would have enjoyed heckling him with all of his sideline body language. I know you and your brother and friends live for that kind of stuff. :D

Wow another Big win for the big south. That is good for CSU. Now if we can knock of ECU that will cap a pretty good week in the Big South non-conference schedule.

over on the WU board, a guy from C of C was previewing those games and didn't see anyone other than CCU being a challenge. WHOOPS.

Reggie Williams scores 41 in VMI's loss to Cornell on Friday night. Reggie could possibly lead the league in scoring the way VMI is putting up points. He is averaging around 30 ppg. I will be interested to see how much they score on a nightly basis in conference.

Williams will almost assuredly lead the conference in scoring with the style they have gone to. Basically it is run up the court as quick as you can and throw up the first shot that is even semi open.

Unfortunately for VMI, this isn't exactly a new science, and it doesn't work. They are going to have another miserable season, just this time they'll have nice offensive stats to show mom and dad. Of course, Blair, Martin, and AZ Reid may score 50 on them.

No. It would be nice if there was one, but there isn't.

NO, that would take courage and vision. Two things the BSC is not noted for

VMI's defense sucks. that's why they can't win. reggie is a beast though, and the twins can play.

How can your defense suck if you don't have one?

I'll go so far to say that Reggie Williams may even lead the nation in scoring this year...or at least be in the top 5. But as everyone else has said, it is a product of the system they run (not to say he isn't a good player, but he isn't a 'lead the nation in scoring' player if they weren't running that system).

Good win for WU and LU. The Big South is gonna be interesting this season for sure. Lots of non-conference wins around the league so far. VMI is missing a couple of players that got dismissed for violation of school honor code and they have a couple of guys injured right now too. I plan on going to see them in person next Sat in Lexington in the afternoon before coming back here to call the Longwood game Sat night. I will also see them on Dec 20th at Richmond. I talk to Jason Allison at VMI nearly every day it seems. He says Reggie is really playing well but they need him to take over games down the stretch and right now he shys away from that. Most of their defeats have been within 7 points or so. They do plan on using that system in big south play though. For you Sport Management guys, I talked with Dale Gibson (started the program at Liberty) and he is at Tusculum now where Duggar Baucoum coached before coming to VMI and they ran that sort of system there so he knows how to coach it. He just needs a few more players to step in. Losing those guys has to hurt though. I am writing a blog on Facebook for every game I cover. I wrote one after game one. I will wriite another one today and post both of them in a new thread over here.

This was a very big win for the Bulldogs. They have a killer stretch of road games coming up, including at Carolina and at Louisville. They may be pretty well beat up by the time we open Big South play against them, and will be playing their first home game in almost a month.
