I appreciate your hard line "technical" focus on ability not to get distracted on the "emo" fundamentals.

While I am not sure what that all means I do see you are paying my awesomeness the proper respect with your 'smiley'
And I agree 100% with your #. In fact, this should be a motivating tool for next season!

Perhaps we should stop rewarding failure with this notion of winning championships when we clearly havent. A championship indicates there is a single final winner. The idea that we have multiple rings for cochampionships in seasons where we did not make the playoffs is a little ridiculous. Lets stop patting ourselves on the back for not going to the playoffs. Its like handing out first runner up.

Did you go to the playoffs? No. You werent the champions.
But here's a little something for self-esteem bc you almost made it and we dont want you to feel bad.

Perhaps if we stopped rewarding almost championships, we might find the missing ingredients for winning them outright - no asterisks.

The guys improved as the season went on, which is a great sign. I have said it over and over that I expected 7 or 8 wins and they got there. Congrats on a solid season and I believe Turner Gill has this program heading in the right direction. Next year the offense will be improved but the defense will have some question marks. I think we have what it takes to win the Big South outright next year...

The problem is we have dueling goals. We want to be FBS, and at the same time we want to make the FCS playoffs. But those two goals don't always align.

Next year, we will again play two FBS schools. This probably helps us to get exposure in FBS, and especially the Appy game may help change some minds.

However, more than likely we still lose both of those games. (Although with the Appy freefall, maybe not).

But still, if our only goal was to make the FCS playoffs, we would schedule differently.

I still think scheduling 1a games doesn't help us make the FCS playoffs...it's just wasted oppertunities. Even if we win the Appy game...does the selection committe care? Beating Ball State didn't get us in.

Take this year's scheledule. Replace the away games at ODU and Kent State with away games at St. Francis and Lehigh. St. Francis came here...surely the'd schedule us at their place...and I think we still owe Lehigh a game.

More than likely, we would have finished 10-2 with 8 FCS wins...I think that gets us in.

BUT WE AREN'T SCHEDULING TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS...WE'RE SCHEDULING TO TRY TO GO FBS.

I don't necesarily think this is a bad thing, it's just the way it is.

LU should have learn the schedule lesson years ago! And now with BSC automatic....win the league. Beat a CAA on the road or home! Bottom line of the 6 D1 wins only CSU merits any attention. Who does the football schedule?

I'm not sure they are dueling goals at all. I'm not sure how much weight the committee puts into losing a game to an FBS school. I think winning one would be a tie breaker if its close. But if we'd beaten Richmond I think we would have had a decent shot of making the playoffs this year. If we'd beaten Kent and ODU same thing. But the bottom line is we didn't win those games Winning games is in complete alignment with our goals at every level

The BSC is not the only conference that uses tiebreakers for purposes of selecting the autobid only and awards shared championships. I personally have no problem with it and I think it´s ridiculous that people are freaking out if we don´t make a point of saying COchampions. This year is a little different than some in the past because it was a 2 way and CCU won the head to head. Saying that one team is more worthy of being called champion than another because of some of those silly 3 way tie breakers they have had is stupid.

Yeah, saying one team who beat another team is the Champion is mean spirited. I'm thrilled with how the staff kept our team focused and improving but I'm not getting all excited about another co championship and taking it for what it is : a hollow accolade

I know half of what you post here is just for the sake of argument Purple, but I specifically said that this years situation is different because there were only 2 teams tied and CCU won the head to head. It is the 3 way scenarios we have had in the past where IMHO it would be less than fair to declare 1 team champion based on a contrived tiebreaker. It is necessary for purposes of the autobid, but there is no reason when 3 teams had the same record in conference play that a conference cannot or should not name them as cochampions..

Considering 1/2 of what you post is nonsense than it's a tie :D

However, when it's a two way tie and there is a head to head match up in the books, that really isn't a tie. You didn't win a championship.

If Alabama loses on Saturday, I guarantee they won't be celebrating their SEC West (co)Championship with Auburn.
+1
But will Auburn?

I could say that borders on a personal attack, but I suspect your defination of nonsense is pretty much any opinion which differs from your own, so I would say half is probably about right. We actually do agree from time to time.

It was every bit a personal attack as your post. As for the rest, if that's what helps you sleep at night.
