At 11:30 AM ET, the NCAA Selection Committee will announce the 24-team field for the FCS Playoffs. Yes, we have had disappointment layered on us year after year. Yes, with 2 D2 wins on our resume we are a long shot even with an 8-4 record. But based on the lack of quality candidates to fill out the at large selections, we are likely in the running.

Bring your discussion here of the speculation as well as the final field.

I am under no delusion that we will be selected this year but I do think it would be pretty funny the one year we have all pretty much lost hope is the year we get selected.

Of course it won't happen and I refuse to allow myself to even entertain such a thought. Fool me once, shame on you fool be twice, three times, four times, five times, six times shame on me....haha

they won't reward liberty with 6 d1 wins but funny seeing some of the bubble schools either have no signature wins, has a bad loss, or riding a losing streak. sure isn't 2008.

This is not 2008, ballah09, which is why I think we have a chance (albeit slim). We are riding a 5-game win streak, and just routed the #16 team in the nation (at their house). Part of me hopes we don't make it, but it is a purely selfish motivation. I have law school exams coming up in a week and a half, and I don't want any distractions. A playoff game would be very distracting. I'm a Flame Fan, though, so I'll be in the Bill cheering LU on if we do get picked by the selection committee. There aren't many, if any, schools that could outbid Liberty for a chance to host a first-round home game.

I agree with the overall sentiment that this doesn't have the feel of a playoff season considering the better finishes in years past. If we would have had an expanded playoff field back in the day, we would have been in by now.

I'm not expecting to be in the field when it is announced tomorrow. But I wouldn't be shocked either. If we had made one more play in any of those 3 heartbreakers we wouldn't be having this discussion. Our record would stand on its own. That's what makes this so gut-wrenching.

Exactly what I've been thinking.

If some of these bubble teams would have played our schedule they might have ended up 6-6 or at best 7-5. To think that the autobid in the Soconn is going to a team(furman) that struggled to beat a presbyterian team by 1, while the team below them that is considered to be ahead of us has losses to Furman and the citadel with a 1 point win in final seconds to beat a very poor and struggling elon team witha horrendous record and got destroyed by costal. Not to mention the complete dominance and embarrassment the big south put on the soconn this year, point blank the soconn sucks this year when is anyone gonna open their eyes and realize that. Stop treating a 2 win app state team like a power house because of their past seasons!

Zero consideration here....maybe LU should get a real FCS schedule inlight of how little respect BCS has.

For LU it is always a schedule issue and never winning automatic bid.

So take out Samford and UTC then look at the next 4 -Youngstown St, N. Iowa, S. Illinois and S. Utah. Which 3 would we leap frog to get one of those 2 spots? And I'm leaving out the ' next 4 out' since we just beat CSU

Not saying chances are great, but seems as if there should be a decent chance. Hard to justify the OVC getting three teams in when you look closely at Jacksonville State and Tennessee State's schedules. Isn't Jeff Barber on the selection committee. I know the whole thing about "leaving the room" when your team is discussed, but that can't hurt.

I hope we find a way into the field so bad... This is a team that could really make some noise IMO

That would be the height of dumbness and unbelievably self serving to do that, whether you're being sarcastic in suggesting that or not. he will probably make a comment about winning yesterday, make some comment about Big South champs (causing some on the board who tune in to grind their teeth if he doesn't describe it accurately), then carry on with the service whether or not we are selected
