Yes , eliminate the rock music. There must be an NCAA rule that requires PA system to make noise between every play, in addition to time outs, or other stoppage of play.

It was BJ, I saw him. :D
Har har...unless he was sitting over near the CCU band I highly doubt I even knew SJ was in the building. (for the record we were meeting a couple friends in town for homecoming and that is where they were sitting)

I want to win every football game! .... But "I" joined the Flames Club and attend every game because of the "training champions for Christ" part. Took me years to understand the larger picture. I have a ton of respect for every player that puts on the LU uniform.

In all fairness to Josh, based upon the expanded quote in the footnote, I understood him to mean "It's not all about winning." There is a big difference between this and the idea that "It's not about winning." In other words, there is value to be gained and growth to be found in losing, too.

Being a good loser, still makes one a loser. I don't buy the idea that "it is not just about winning". I do not believe in winning at all cost, ie. dropping our standards for our athletes, ASA comes to mind. However, you can and should put equal emphasis on winning and building character in the athletes. It has been done by several coaches in many different sports at LU. It is just an excuse for losing IMVVVHO.

Maybe this is how we make the playoffs every year:
Don't keep score.
Declare ourselves the moral victor after every game.
All BSC teams are Co-Champions every year, everyone gets a ring.
Tie breakers: 1. Best facilities 2. Most moral victories. 3. Outscored by largest margin in 4th Quarter 4. Most "close losses"on the road. 5. Most close losses at home. 6. Most close losses by the best losers. 7. Team with the most Co-Champion rings. 8. Team with the best music/graphics at the games. 9. Team with the most students leaving the stadium at half time.

:dontgetit I don't think you believe what you think you believe. What you just described is that "it is not just about winning." You just agreed that there are other considerations than winning. I don't think there is a guy that played or coached on Saturday that wasn't all in it to win it on Saturday and absolutely devastated when they came up short. Winning is the goal, and they know that. But win or lose, there will always be other aspects of the game. If you want a program where it is ONLY about winning, go root for Western Kentucky.

8 million dollars!? That's very crazy for an FCS program, and a good handful of FBS programs don't even spend that much money on football. I would sure hope that if the athletic department is going to spend that much on hoping for success in football, you would think that the players would at least not say stuff like "It's not about winning."

I'd urge you to not call me a troll, I just so happened to see this article and couldn't be helped but be bemused by the fact that anyone could say something like that, let alone a student-athlete. You know where "It's not all about winning?" Little League baseball, junior varsity sports, and quizbowl competitions, all of which are truly awesome things. When someone says something like that, and millions of dollars are being invested into your so-called infallible former failed FBS coach and a program which quite honestly, looks mediocre, it's a sad thing. While I understand Liberty's primary goal, it can't be helped that money is being invested in something and not getting progress as a result. I ask all of this board to please stop the ad hominem attacks on me. It is not productive and it's quite repulsive for people to do such a thing.

To me it just shows ppls knowledge, TG I good enough a coach that we are in the games but when they don't win he is now the bad guy. If they were getting blown out I could maybe see ur point. The players also have to be held accountable for there actions as well. Coach could call a good play and its executed wrong is that coaches fault. Player gets out of lane on punt causing a return is that coaches fault, come on ppl we have to know when and what to hold players accountable for as well as the coaches.

You are not a Liberty fan, come on here and with all but one of your 8 posts say only negative things about our coaches, players, program, etc. and then cry when someone calls you a name? Wow!! Grow up or don't come on here. That's all I got to say.

Look at my posts again, only 2-3 of my posts have any sort of criticisms towards any affiliation to the school. My first post was to talk about my days when I was a student at Colorado State and what I saw regarding the basketball program. That's all!!! Stop being obtuse and read my posts before assuming anything.

The post I responded to was your 6th post on this board. At that point, over half of your sporadic and limited posts were focused on getting some kind of dig at coach Layer or coach Gill. Your only two posts about football had come after two gut wrenching emotional 4th quarter losses and been totally negative towards the program. How on earth would you expect to be viewed as anything but a troll?
You also misrepresent Woodrum's quote (he did not say "It's not about winning") and then present your straw man like it's the official philosophy of the program.

I am not real sure, maybe it should be. I have never played anything where I felt good, or that I accomplished much by finishing second. Maybe some are comfortable with that. :)

I take the better part of a week off to recover from this latest debacle and come back to read @ our QB saying this.

we need PR people. again.

I think I get what he was saying but maybe this is exactly the root of the issue with LU sports. Ok is good enough b/c everything is a ministry.

an 8 mil $ ministry I guess.

same thing as the "win or lose..." pictures on twitter. I do appreciate the message we are sending but it's not what I want to see after that kinda hot mess we had Sat nite.

and I guarantee we will get more respect from beating people than from losing with class. Ask VMI how all those sportsmanship awards feel.
