The Flames begin their quest for the Big South title this week against conference rival Coast Carolina. After a tough 3-3 start to the season, and with a bye week to think about their last minute loss to Old Dominion, the Flames’ path is only getting steeper as they come up against the undefeated Chanticleers and their star running back Lorenzo Taliaferro.

If the weather is good I think yes...and if we get off to a fast start (TD on our first possession and force three and out or turnover from Coastal) I think the momentum could snowball in our favor with the energy from the home crowd.

They used to, for sure. But that stopped a few years back. I think the attendance numbers have been fairly accurate of late.

A couple years back before students swipe flames passes like now and we just showed them and went through the counter I went through 3-4 times so the numbers were a little off and I wasn't the only one to do that. We would save a section with a mass of people blocking people so we could get seats first. Those were the days of the mad rush to be first and always had clever strategies like the bigger boned kid acting like he couldn't get trough the counter. But those people would leave and come back later. Now gill ville being first in has taken that glorious opportunity on the run on the hill anbd jump the hand rails away while giving your best stiff arm to opponents. I always wondered what opponents thought when they saw us.

NCAA feasibility committee really cracked the whip on that one. Want into FBS, have to have actual butts in the seats.

Now did the Falwells actually do that or did kids just make the signs?

I've heard both stories.

And since we are past that phase....

They actually told us that we could. We would still get there 90 minutes before game time but we never had to worry about getting our seats.

It's amazing what you can get done if you go through the right channels to form an actual club and all of that.

I think Richmond still does it and they're not even trying to move up. Speaking of butts in seats, I watched on TV the VA Tech, ECU game from Greenville and noticed half the butts went back to the parking lot after the second quarter.

And It was a 7-7 game. That has to encourage the Image players?

The Flames and Chanticleers meet for the 11th time in school history with the series knotted at 5 games a piece. Either Coastal or Liberty has gone on to win the conference championship in 8 of the past 9 years. Whoever comes out the victor Saturday evening will have a leg up on this year’s conference championship race.

There is still a pretty good little rush from the Gillville folks, can see a bit of it in this clip. I know a girl who got slammed into a rail a couple weeks back, you can see her holding her side at the 3:31 mark up top.

Flames Nation wrote:The Heat: The Playoffs Start Now

It’s all in the title this week. For Liberty, the football playoffs start now. All of the games this season, all of the blowout victories, and all of the emotional heart breakers have just been tune ups for October 19th, and the start of Big South play. While we all relish the victories and agonize over the defeats, the only surefire games that matter for the Flames start this weekend, on Homecoming against the #4 team in the country. And if you haven’t been paying attention, that also happens to be the Flames’ biggest rival, Coastal Carolina.

we oughta have it for all our games.

guess the conf can't support that if the events are held anywhere but the 'bill.
It's an FCS thing. I'm sorta positive if the technology is available it has to be agreed to by both teams. Then you have to get the Conference involved.
