Something good came out of this weekend at least:
Gardner-Webb quarterback Lucas Beatty (Charlotte, N.C.) has been named the Choice Hotels Big South Football Offensive Player of the Week, while Liberty cornerback Kenny Scott (Appomattox, Va.) has been selected as Defensive Player of the Week for games played the sixth week of the regular-season. Presbyterian punter Stephen Doar (Landrum, S.C.) is the Special Teams Player of the Week and Gardner-Webb tight end Mike Estes (Raleigh, N.C.) is The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week.

Congrats to Kenny. He deserves this. With our two senior CB's, then K.Scott as a junior and W. Scott as a freshman, we are looking like cornerback U. Let's trademark that.

Congrats to Kenny. But I would rather trademark that we can win one important game and win an uncontested BSC Championship.

No more moral victories or shared BSC Championships.

Can we have a thread where we just congratulate a guy on his achievement please...just once? no talk of hatred of moral victories, desire to get in the playoffs, winning the conference outright, FBS readiness, etc...let's just congratulate a local product on an outstanding performance last week that was seen as the most outstanding in the conference last weekend.

Didn't know you were the free speech police captain. Sorry, but I will post what I want. Thanks for your concern.

You didn't know that Beej was the rule maker on FlameFans? When he's not too busy missing his first home game in 11 years because he's DJing a wedding so that he can provide for his family, he's making up rules and regulations for every thread on here.

I just didn't want to see Kenny getting props for his honor drowned in 47 pages of stupid crap about how the football team sucks because they can't win the big one, making the playoffs, questioning if we have the right coach, etc. we have plenty of threads for all of that other stuff

We have a football thread that is 47 pages long? :dontgetit
Well I think this local product who had a whale of a game deserves to break that record!

I actually agree with BJ on this one. There are at least three other threads that currently afford you the opportunity to express your frustrations and opinions regarding LU's struggles (as you defined them). No one is "limiting" your ability to exercise your right to free speech by requesting that you stick to the topic at hand, which is to congratulate a member of the team for his individual performance on the field from the previous week.

I'm not trying to moderate...I just made what I thought was a simple request that everyone I thought could handle because we are all adults here and we don't have to have every thread degenerate into one of four or five pretty general categories as sports go when it comes to the boys and girls in red, white and navy blue
