I saw today that they're remaking the "Left Behind" movies, at least the first one. The kicker is that Nicolas Cage and Ashley Tisdale are starring....

I actually like the casting. I can easily see Cage in that role. It won't be as good a fit as Valley Girl, but it works for me

I think these could be pretty big if you made like 3 or 4. I actually LIKE the fact that they are just portraying the disappearance w/out calling it the Rapture. IMO, it will cause more people to investigate the books. Plus, it draws a bigger audience. I believe it was CS Lewis who said, and even then I paraphrase, we need more movies that are Christian not more Christian movies.

I appreciate how they acknowledged that it is hard for Christian cinema to shake the cheesiness factor. I believe that we need more Christian films that aren't marketed only for Christians. I think there is a huge outreach opportunity in film making. My goal is to make Christian films that speak to more than just "the choir" and maybe lead some people to Christ.

I sadly read half the series and the 1st book is the only book that is actually somewhat quality...the rest are an embarrassment, but maybe thats just my take on them

After about 5 or 6 it went downhill. Half the book was spent rehashing the previous books. The remaining 1/2 was equally divided into Biblical messages similar to the ones from the previous books and the rest to new story material. I was not a fan of the last 2 at all. I DID really like Jenkins SOON and Mel Odom's Apocolypse Dawn series that were Left Behind spin offs

Nick Cage pretty much shows they're throwing in the towel before they even begin. Maybe they can salvage a straight-to-dvd or netflix-original deal, just to save face from an embarrassing theater release.

I couldn't disagree more. Sure Cage has taken alot of bad movies recently, but a lot of that was just for a pay check to pay his IRs bill. I think he makes a perfect Ray Steele, especially the way this appears headed I think he will nail it. Playing a father/husband looking for his family in the aftermath of a catastrophe works for him. It's right in his wheel house. More so then a bunch of other recent ones. I mean he obviously isn't doing this for the money.
