I always sit in the front row right behind the scorer's table. What about you?

I noticed that. I also noticed that the whole team including coaches were on their feet applauding them. It was nice to see.

It sounds like you need a new girlfriend. That was one of my guidelines for a wife.

Blair could get to 2000 points in his career which would be a phenominal accomplishment! If he gets close it would lock him IMHO for a retirement of his jersey. I still contend that Bailey Alston is the best. 2000 points in 3 seasons! Blair goes down as a top 5 division 1A player though I think if he keeps it up. Nobody in a Liberty Uniform division 1 has averaged over 20 points in a season since Alston in 1990 so Blair is about to make history in that dept. No Big South player has done it since 1999 Torey Butler at Coastal but this season it looks like Holcome-Faye, Reggie Williams and LB are going to do it. LB has a chance to win the scoring title and no Liberty player has done that. We didn't have a conference when Alston put up his numbers. Blair is more of a complete player because he shares the ball and plays defense, 2 things no one ever accused Bailey of doing . Jerry Edwards has seen everyone over the past 25 years and so has his son Mark. They would be able to tell you about some of the other guys prior to 86 when I got here. Good win for the guys last night though. Too bad about the webcast. They told us we had 1200 hits the other night! Word is getting out so they may have to expand the server. You old hags missed several references to the old days in Liberty gym. I even had a Charles Richardson reference Chaz!!! Best moment of the night was when I interviewed Dunton at the beginning of the half and asked him a tough question about him playing walk-ons Lamarr Shorts and Levon Alston (no relation to Bailey I don't think) and he said candidly that when you see get tired of seeing people not doing what you ask them to do, you go to someone that will try to do what you asked (something to that affect). It made for great TV!

The thing I love most about Larry is his passion. We're in the midst of a "downer" season and after Risher drove to the rim and dropped one in and got a foul, Blair tattooed Risher on the behind and was all over him with excitement.

No matter how "off" a night this team has, Blair plays his butt off and doesn't allow the rest of the team to quit. He takes on the personality of our coach, IMO. Combine that with several other high qualities in Larry and his accomplishments on the court, he deserves to be cemented in Liberty lore for years to come. Now if he only had 4 more years of eligbility.

Scar, just to let you know GOAT won the scoring title in 1998 over Josh Pittman of UNC Asheville. Not to be a hater but there could have been plenty of LU players that could have averaged over 20ppg given the number of shot attempts LB gets. Scar could have been one of them, GOAT definitely, ALUMA, NWOSU, Hildebrand, WHITE etc.. His scoring is a by product of that he is one of the only legitimate players the Flames have. LB is what I call a Kobe player, got major skills but doesn't have anyone around him so why not put up major numbers. Take a look at his shooting percentages the last five games and the rest of the season and the number of shot attempts it will only get harder because everyone is well aware of what he is capable of.

We've been wondering where you were, GOAT. You need to get registered into the conversation. Chris & I are having to keep the Non-Texans on this forum in check.

For the record, I think most everyone in the conference is aware of what he can do. That makes it even more challenging when every night the entire defense you are facing is designed to shut you down.

All that said, everybody would love to get as many shots as LB is enjoying this year. But its hard to justify anyone taking the shots away from him right now.

GOAT, welcome back to the boards! I will have to check my trusty Big South book when I get back to Lynchburg this weekend. You are probably right about the scoring title in 98 (or was it 97) since it was you who lived it. Truth is I don't know if I could have averaged 20 plus a game but I like to think I could have. 48% career shooter from the field but I rarely took a shot I couldn't make. LB takes tough ones and gets them to go. His percentage is much lower than mine High 30's I think) but if I had to carry the load the way he is I am not so sure. I think you could have done it though and I know Aluma, Hildo, Caldwell and Boykin (yes I am still on Boykin as one of the best if he had not gotten hurt) and others could have done it but we didn't. Hickman, Nwoso, Keith Ferguson, Darryl Williams, all great players but to average 20 plus is really tough. LB is in the right situation right now to do it. If he keeps this pace (which might be hard once Brewington and the other new guys get here), he will have a chance at 2000 but I have not done the exact math yet to find out how much he needs. I hope he gets it because I would love to witness the moment. I hope I get to call the play he does it!

GOAT is making my point of retiring his number. Why would it be done for him? It's not his fault but his teams haven't been great and he does have to take a bulk of the shots. He's a very good player... but great enough to go to the rafters? I don't know if we've come close to that. Now, if they win a championship next year and go into the tourney... we could see some good arguments for it.

For the Record the #10 should have been retired for Alston. I know I sound like a big Bailey Alston fan but the truth is I didn't even like him or get along with him. We actually started fighting in a game once while we were bringing the ball up the court. He also got into fights with other teammates in the locker room at half time of games and in practice situations. We get along great now when we see each other but I wanted to win games and couldn't care less about personal glory (its true Sly) but BA was not like that. He was all about his numbers and it cost us ball games. That is why I have the utmost respect for LB because he is a team player. If I had a vote, nobody else would wear 22 again at Liberty to go with 00 and 20 (which was my number too btw  ). If 2000 points doesn't do it then what does warrant a retired jersey? It is a very subjective thing and is based on how people feel about the person as well as the player (see why there is no # 10 on the list?).

I've been hoping Dunton would give him his chance all year long. He never did. I could see he was frusterated.

It's going to get crowded next season.

With Rish, LB, Brewington, Smith, Holland all trying to log minutes in the backcourt. Not to mention the log-jam at the 3-4 with Rell, Baker, Bigby, Hubbard and Doug. McClean will probably start at center right of the gate, with Monroe redshirting, which has been thrown around. That leaves Eck backing him up.

Do we win the BS with that team?

My guess is this:

PG - Brewington
SG - Blair
SF - Hubbard
PF - Porter
C - McClean

Don't forget the fish ... Armon Jones will definitely be eating some minutes down low. And we may have another high schooler or two sign this spring.

At least they came back after being down early in the game. Risher was solid. That is probably the best I have seen him play. LB is just LB as usual. I definitely like this starting lineup. It definitely showed some productivity last night.

That's not a bad lineup...that is IF everyone knows the system and understands their role and plays well together...it'll be more fun than this year hands down....the only thing is having McClean at the 5 positon, I still rather have him at the 4 and have a Miller type player with this team so we could run and gun more....but I know I know, "I wish" we could say that for any good player....we'll see what we sign though

anyone else hear this interesting fact.....out of high school LB was rated a 3 and Brew was rated a 6

Can someone please tell me what type of scale or rating system there is for players coming out of high school...

Which rating is that from?

Scout.com had Brew at 4 stars with Larry only getting 1. So did Baker, Holland, Porter and Risher.
