I don't see anything to suggest anything more than a dusting JB. What model are you using.
Even the GFS says two. But the way this winter has been, I wouldn't be shocked. Miller B's always screw us.

Kirstie Alley
I suggest you upgrade your model then. Bar Raefali (sp?) perhaps?

For clarification (so we can figure out how "well" you are doing)… your prediction is currently….?

You're probably right. There's probably another 1-4 tonight after this first wave ends (this second batch is still in Tennessee)

All the models showed this but I wasn't ready to bite.

Solid 5" in the Ft. Avenue area of Lynchburg. I'm wondering if this 2nd batch will hold its moisture as it passes through the mountains of TN and VA. The moisture field looks more formidable than it did earlier this afternoon. Here's hoping for another 3" overnight.

I'm really surprised that the NWS didn't up their forecast once the snow started falling. Also surprised they didn't change the advisory to a winter storm warning - since that is really what this is. As the area of low pressure draws closer, the winds should pick up.

I guess they didn't feel a need to for some reason. Their forecast was 2 to 4, but it became quickly apparent it wouldnt come close to that. I'm at 5.5, about an inch of melting since then but I expect 1-3 more tonight.

Well apparently someone at the NWS read our thread. Just issued a Winter Storm Warning until 8am Monday. Apparently they're saying an additional 3 - 5 inches are possible overnight.

Strange. I've been enjoying basketball during the lull and I look on my phone for the radar during a commercial and it says WSW and I was like what... finally? Then another 3-5? Wow.

This is what makes weather so much fun, no matter if you get it wrong.

Apparently, after never having heard of it last year, this is going to be a thing now:

http://www.5stateweather.com/index.php/ ... ne-11-14th

Potential for Derecho to affect Mid West, Mid Atlantic June 11-14th.

There is an increasing threat for severe weather June 11th through June 14th.
A shortwave is currently in the Gulf of Alaska. This wave will continue to move East-Southeast into the United States in the coming days.
The first potential of storms associated with this wave will start Tuesday in Montana.
