The Sun Belt message boards make my head hurt...

Any guesses on who Liberty22 is or Campaign4Liberty is? Could they be one of us???

They definitely aren't a part of the dark side

Are they claiming Dark Side status? Now I'm going to have to read the boards. Don't take the Dark Side lightly.

Really? I mean I am a JMU hater. They are the school that I loathe the most. They compete for national championships in football. We haven't made the playoffs. Please don't say ridiculous things. We are not ahead of them, in anything. See our article on how badly they have owned us in just about every sport.

Is that right? I could name 5 of our sports that now one cares about right now that are better than James Madison's.

No other school that is an option for the Sun belt would motivate JMU. They are seriously terrified of being perceived as behind any more in state programs, especially us.

JMU has four full-time strength and conditioning coaches.

This appears to be the "calm before the storm" - good or bad right now. New information is slow to none and the logical assumptions have dried up. I suspect that this Friday or Monday will be when JMU officially announces their intentions for the Sun Belt as I am reading they have a forthcoming board meeting this week. IMO we are still in knee high weeds on this; even though for the most part we look sweet on all fronts as a candidate options for the SB seem to be unfolding everyday to include potentially, if not already, offering a football only entrance to JMU. While logistically horrible there are other schools such as Missouri State they may be considering as well. Additionally Karl Benson's interview on Lafayette radio today isn't sitting with me very well either... I will say, as we can all agree, this has been one wild and crazy ride!!

A friend of mine and fellow church member is in the know over at JMU and he is still sticking to the JMU wants to end up in C-USA or the MAC. He also thinks they have an outside chance at getting an invite to the new Big East. He did not give me the feeling that a move to the SunBelt would happen for JMU and suggested that LU is in the drivers seat for the Sunbelt opening. Still though, he's not the one to make that decision...

I get the points about not engaging on the Sun Belt board and other boards, but after reading more garbage by this App70 hater and others like him it might be important to at least try to clean up some of the hateful misinformation they spew. Of course, the point is probably right that it won't do much good. But it's kind of like the low-information voter getting agenda-driven info from major media. Maybe it's important that somebody at least try to present the other side and counter that junk.

He did say "anything" and "just about every sport" which although perhaps an impossibility is certainly all encompassing nonetheless. I suppose I should have disregarded the "other" 18 sports and took "anything" and "just about every sport" to mean the only two sports we have on campus, men's basketball and football.


Perhaps some of you should take some more pride and learn a little bit more about the other 18, while no, they don't "matter" in the large scheme of things, to have our own fans ignorant of our own success, to say that JMU owns us in every sport, and to say we're not ahead of them in anything...quite ignorant and really does a disservice to the 500 other athletes on campus that don't play football or men's basketball.

Browsing the Sun Belt Board...how can we expect SBC posters to respect us when we don't even know anything about our own athletics department? How can you state a case for us in the Belt if you don't know anything about our athletics program?

Volleyball swept JMU 3-0 here in Lynchburg on September 25th. Did you know that? Did you care to know? Volleyball is but one of many countless examples of JMU ownership. While it won't win you a debate among football fans, at least you'll sleep well at night knowing truth.

The thought of us being better than JMU in anything athletics wise is just silly. It pains me to say that but its reality. Heaven forbid that even the strongest Kool-aide drinkers admit this as truth though...
