Not at Liberty? This is why I believe we can be good, national level good, in every sport.

Why would he be? Because he went to a Christian academy in Savannah GA? Means nothing, and if you look at his personal info you will see he has a daughter, but no mention of a wife. If he had any interest at all in the school or the program to begin with, he may not have wanted to go the shotgun wedding route like a couple of our former players have had to.

Since he's NOT at Liberty its sort of a moot point.
Hey, OLD easy there. My wife and I got a shotgun for a wedding gift! :)

Its simple...to add to what PH said, just because he went to a Christian school doesnt make him a Christian (which I would think is something that would need to be considered seeing as we are the world's largest CHRISTIAN university) anymore than going to a military school makes me a soldier or a sailor or a pilot.

Why does this tired argument get brought up at least once every year?

Oh, and even if there wasn't a red flag about the kid issue, Big East >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Big South.

If a player is good enough to get a scholarship to a Big East school, the chances of them even considering a Big South school are likely approaching zero. Guys like that likely aren't even realistically recruited by a Big South school because the coaches know they don't have a shot at the kid.

I don't thnk that is entirely true. It depends on the kids' background and connections. I can think of 3 people that I am close to that shall rename nameless but have Blue Chip recruits that they would be willing to steer towards Liberty. Besides, Liberty has had players with big time offers including of the top of my head, Bailey Alston, Karl Hess,(Coach Manley has a ton of stories about big time athletes that were steered to Liberty because of what we stand for), David Dees, Marcus White, Eric Pothoven, Brian Woodson and the list goes on. Liberty can recruit some blue chip recruits because of it's unique platform.

I can also name several players that I see at major universities that were very close to making Liberty their school due to relationships.

I also want to say that just because you see a kid a a major school that played HS at a Christian school that they should be at Liberty. The premise of that argument is extremely faulty. Recruiting has an infinite amount of components to it. On Flamefans recruiting is 2 dimensional. :D

Davon Marshall had big time offers; Oregon, Providence, Boston College, etc. chose LU.

remember Chris Weber, and James Lang? or how about Hankys old philosophy of signing non qualified all-americans like antiono burks and chip richmond? :D

agreed with Scar tho. a lot of kids play at christian schools these days because they travel a lot more compared to public schools. more exposure for colleges.

Weber is an urban legend.
And how did Mel's career work out?

No he wasn't. He should have gone to Louisville and developed his game. He took the wrong advice. I was with him the night he gave his life to the Lord, and although he has suffered plenty of injuries and is partially paralyzed, he was once considered a big time basketball player with plenty of offers.

Also, didn't Carter McMaster's have an offer from UK?

Being considered and actually being are two different things.

Carter McMaster's an offer? Not according to his bio on Rivals, Scout, or ESPN

So you take those sites for absolute truth? I know one of the kids who lived with parents had offers from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Baylor, but those sites never stated that.

I believe McMasters had offers from the SEC after his Junior yr. I would have to ask his dad to confirm that too.

Recruiting labels are about as accurate as the NFL or NBA draft. You can bet there are a few sure things but many times they get it wrong both ways. There are several examples of kids being better than the amount of stars assigned to him. We can think of players in the Big South alone that turned out to be dynamite players like Reggie Williams, AZ Reid, Stan Okoye, Larry Blair, Seth Curry. All were better than many kids with 4 or 5 stars on them coming out of HS. Recruiting is as much about what style you want to run and what kind of kid you want to coach as it is about evaluating talent.

Well unless you have evidence to the contrary that is all I have to work with.

I had heard that Kentucky has some interest but I never heard they offered. The profiles listed above do list a laundry list of major schools that had offered him.
