So we're the "little school from Lynchburg," huh?
Apparently proofreading is not a virtue for Turner Sports.
Liberty becomes on the second school (Coppin State in 2008) to advance to the NCAA tournament with 20-plus losses to its credit.
Much like Harvar, the Liberty Flames are led this season by their backcourt.

There were more issues with the article, but Rex played basketball at Kentucky, so I think he exceeded my expectations.

I don't think that this journalist did a bad job in terms of his coverage in the article above.

However, unfortunately some journalists [in terms of their coverage] will do a brutal job of covering Liberty. These days some journalists do sloppy research and fact finding. I can almost guarentee that we will see alot more of this into the Tournament. I remember in 2004 while watching the NCAA Tournament, when Liberty played St. Joe's in the First Round in Buffalo, NY the commentator's making comments about Liberty that were either unfactual or outdated. At one point in the game the commentator had made a comment to which my wife had said to me, "What school are they talking about?" They were really far off in some of the things they said.

Sadly, in the age of the internet and in the crunch for time, some want information quick and might not be as committed to the process of proper research; checking sources; or for the sake of journalistic integrity - ensuring the reliability of information. My background and professional job vocation is research).

On a side note, one thing that I thoroughly had enjoyed about reading the coverage by a guy like Chris Lang (Lynchburg News & Advance on Liberty) over the years is that he was accurate and had taken the time and commitment to tap into the Liberty community, university, personnel, and fanbase. He didn't get promoted to the Virginia Tech job by accident. He did not minced words while covering Liberty. He was tactful but also truthful.

Yeah but how many championships did we win under him? Goose egg. He leaves and we win one 3 months later. Thanks for nothing Lang. Long live Damien Sordelett!

Rex Chapman isn't a journalist. He's a former college and pro player who does commenyary and occasionally writes opinion pieces.

I just spent a week with Damien in Myrtle Beach and all I know is Liberty has never lost a game on that court since he has been on the beat. I think Damien is the good luck charm and Lang was bad luck.

That may explain why VT "sucks eggs" this year and is in last place despite having the ACC Player of the Year

Well, none of us should quit our day jobs. Chris Lang writes a heck of alot better than any of you.

So, lets get back on target with NCAA Tourney..

I think Luconn and I were clearly joking. I know Chris well and consider him a friend.

I am hoping to get up to Dayton but I would love it if they won that Liberty would be sent to Philly! I think they would probably stay in Dayton if they won since that is one of the regional sights. Several players from the past have already contacted me about tickets.

I just looked at bracketology on ESPN and it shows the two play in teams going to Dayton and Lexington as 16 seeds. Liberty going to Dayton as of now on bracketology.

LIU Brooklyn is a pretty good team to be playing in Dayton. They should be switched with WKU. But my opinion doesn't really matter, haha.

I'm hoping we draw WKU, can you imagine the hell that would break loose on the sunbelt board if we were to win...

I know that we all can’t know for sure until Sunday night’s Selection Committee Announcements, but…

Q: Does it appear at this point to be a probable sure bet that Liberty will play in Dayton on Mar 19 or 20 (First Round / Play-In Game)? And then play Duke or Indiana in Dayton on Mar 21 or 22 (Second Round)?

I am likely / hoping to go to Round Two Game (Mar 21 or 22) after Liberty’s play-in game if they win. I'm trying to get as good of a prediction or outlook - so that I can to make it happen with travel plans, tickets, and work schedule etc.

I think the latest bracket projection had us playing in Lexington vs Louisville if we win, but its all up in the air right now..

Good point. You ride in the back and on the right to balance things out.

CBS as of earlier today projected us vs Norfolk State.....well the Spartans just lost to Bethune Cookman in OT. Talk about an upset. The Spartans were 16-0 in the MEAC and BC was 7-9. Looks like NCCU is the favorite now and we may draw them in Dayton. We have a common opponent as NCCU beat Winthrop 64-57 on January 2nd.
