I don´t recall us ever being in this position before, where we had zero experience if the starter goes down, but I think the talent is there in Masha and or Shashaty (who I have heard has looked really good in practices). It´s not really anyone´s fault that Hudson transfered and the guy from Campbell who swapped places with him has to sit a year.

First of all, we didnt have this new lb when i posted. Second, any time you have a 4 year starter option guys like hudson will leave for playing time. So, that is correct that we havent had that situation but when is the last time we had a 4 year starter. I really like our young qbs. As far as lb goes, you need to have a couple every year in each recruiting class, we have that now

I can see the meeting in HCTG´s office now ¨Marshall, what happened? You know we have to sign at least 2 linebackers in every class. I don´t care if signing day is over.... get on the phone and get me another linebacker! The message boards are going to be all over this!¨

Look, you just can´t say that regardless of how many you have on the roster at a given position you MUST recruit a certain number every year, and Dexter Robbin´s signing does not magically make this recruiting class ¨complete¨ (although he does look like a keeper.)

im late but Robbins looks like another steal.

Sevier County LB Dexter Robbins expected to sign with Liberty on Thursday. #Beast #HugeSteal
.
looks like another Darrin Peterson last year. Tennessee fans wanted him to get a preferred walk on spot

and his dad posted there, hopefully he drops by here.
Two Cents worth from Dexter's dad. Coach Carl Torbush, and Coach Mike Minter timed him at Liberty University on grass at a 4.53. On a track he runs in the high 4.4's. Liberty would offer him but they are not signing any LB's this year. Dexter was listed as their Number 1 LB recruit. Coach Torbush has coached many good one's in his days at UNC, Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas A&M etc... So I place a lot of confidence in his evaluation. Dexter would love the opportunity to receive a preferred walk-on. Seem's like we had a pretty good LB a few years ago named Ryan Karl who walked on and eventually earned a scholarship. He played at 218 lbs. Not that a scholarship offer wouldn't be better but he understands he will need to prove himself.

Can he catch the ball? His 40 times are better than our WRs!

That was the 70's when most lineman were 255-270.

Mosley is a real bulldozer. He could make a nice power combination with Macon, but he definitely has some good afterburners in the open field as well despite his size.

We appreciate all the kind comments. Dexter and all the Robbins Family are extremely happy to be a part of the Flame Nation.

TE is certainly a need long term need for us, as we have four upperclassmen (two juniors and two seniors) and one redshirt freshman at the position

Maybe, maybe not. There are at least 2 in this recruiting class and 2 or 3 more on the roster who could end up playing TE. Our top 3 tight ends going into last year started their college career at another position. Gunn was a DE, Apon a WR and Gagliardi a FB.

If you moved JNS and NN from there what looks to be natural spots of LB, where they look like they could cause havoc for next 4/5 years, NS at Sam anad NN at Will, you really had better had brought in some beasts to replace them at the LB spot to have to move them over.

Those decisions are generally made each year in Spring practice, and the primary criteria are the strengths of the player and the need at the position where they were vs. where they are being moved. You won´t see players getting moved from a position where we are thin unless the kid has shown he simply can´t play the position or has öutgrown¨it¨, as with Francis Bah (who started out as a 215 pound TAILBACK and ate/bench pressed/squatted his way to being a 300 pound DT).

Francis was a more than willing participant in that weight gain. He is the strongest man on the team and a prized pupil of Gillespies who plans on a future career as a strength and conditioning coach. He is also a legit NFL prospect as a DL because of his size and strength and the speed he retained from his days as a former kick returner in Germany.

Hmmm - prized pupil??? If only we knew his summer conditioning routine... I'd be interested in knowing. No doubt Bah is a speed and strength specimen for his size!
