He's been doing this for quite a few years (certainly before most of us young bucks had even found out there was a school named Liberty), The band has grown over the years and had opportunities that I'm not even sure were thought of outside of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1983, from playing halftime at the Meadowlands to playing at Walt Disney World. It certainly would be nice if they played more music that people would understand during the game itself, but all things considered, I am glad at least to have the band be more of a part of the pregame festivities than just marching in, playing the national anthem, playing a few tunes and then the fight song. With the pregame only being a couple years old in its current form, I dont mind being patient at this point.
I've been waiting patiently for them to update for 6 years. Done waiting. Let's stop doing superman and hey baby. Update it.
 So True!

As much as I would like to think those shirts would be a collector's item, I think adding newer music to the stands library might take more than that...

So unless you or Bob or FLamesfanva want to pay for it, I will simply state that when it comes to picking newer songs you gotta do a bit of research as to what would be a good fit not only for a football context but also the sort of thing that can fit within LU's context. I did find a few songs I think might be good fits though, but its gonna be up to folks over Dr Kerr's head I would think to make substantive music changes happen.

I agree with HMO on the warmup, that was a very nice thing. I know down at CCU they have what they call skull sessions and they play show music and stands tunes on the green in front of the fine arts building, and to have us warming up behind the Welcome Center would be a nice new gameday tradition

I think we should put the band in the upper deck on the student side. App State does that and it allows their band to project over the entire crowd instead of half the student section not being able to hear them.

If the students come out like they have the past few years, they definitely should put a decibel meter on that side (and a stand with earplugs). I dont know how loud we are rating right now though

Or improve. Because I think more students will approve if things improve. But that's just me

Its an interesting thought process really. What Id like to see is some more on field promotions for fans. To be frank I dont think we have done one since the fellow won the car a couple years back.

Very few schools do on field 'promotions' any more. Half time promos would be good but there always seem to be some type of Pagentry going on the whole time.
What you do see a lot of times are people being honored for accomplishments or military service etc.

Which I agree with PH...there is a place for pageantry and recognizing accomplishment (introducing new members of the athletics hall of fame, recognizing the military, etc.) but that should not necessarily be the ONLY part of on field activities. That said, with the time involved in preparation and execution (by the way, what happened to the partnership between Spirit FM and LU with the American Scholar program?), you dont want to add too much to the total time of the game.

That's a great idea to really add to the atmosphere without needing a gimmick to do it.

What I'm saying isn't TO's there is time to bring someone on to the field and say 'BJWilliams just recently surpassed the 1 million post mark on FF.com. FF.com is dedicated to promoting all things Liberty and BJ's accomplishment just goes to show the wonderful contributions to the Liberty University family. Lets show our appreciation for BJ's accomplishments'. This can be done at any and all TV TO's and won't lengthen the time of the game. Except to pick up all the things thrown at you! Ha
Our half time consists of Phantm of the Opera andLes Miserables hits currently

I see your point (and the humor in mentioning me). As far as enhancing the overall gameday experience...that is a good question...I think finding some way to bring the team through the campus (similar to prior to the Howard's Rock entrance at Clemson, or the Tiger Walk at I believe LSU). That might be a good thing to consider.

I like the band doing their walk in. That's sorta cool. It would be cool if they had along they played though. I think When the Saints go Marching In would be good. Battle Hymn of the Republic would be good but probably boo'd by the Southern contingent. Onward Christian Soldiers would be nice as well

Have them do a ceremonial walk out of the stadium after the game and call it the Rapture.

I have a brilliant idea. Lets invite a pee wee football team to play every week during half time, for every game while playing that sped up chipmunk voice dance song.

See how smart I am!
