Now the Libya stuff is REALLY starting to come back on Biden. That may turn out to be his big gaffe. Plus you are seeing a lot of still shots of the debate. The moderate looks po'd more than I thought and makes Biden look worse.
I did like Ryan's point about Obamas budget being a Speech. And then go through the process of trying to get the Obama budget and being led to the Press Secretary. I think emphasizing that and having some specific loop holes they will cut will throw Obama off his game again in the next debate.

No mention of Big Bird.

And that's a great ad and makes a huge point about who is more serious about the issues

Biden seemed totally unprepared to talk about abortion, he really struggled through that.

And for as much time as they've had to prepare for it, I thought Ryan's response to the 47% comment was really weak. That was an opportunity to teach something and make a point, and instead they just went with a defensive 'oops' response.

Just heard a good one:
Joe Biden threw the CIA under the bus. The CIA doesn't like to be thrown under the bus. Hopefully Joe Biden has a FoodTaster on staff and someone else starts his car. Ha

That's because Biden is an old, angry politician who doesn't know when to shut up.

True that.

I think this is probably exactly what Ryan needed to do for Romney. Nobody will remember these debates when the presidential ones kick back up. Ryan didn't embarrass himself, or the Romney campaign, something Sarah Palin couldn't do last time around.

Ryan should have known this dealing with Joe Biden last night.

Interesting...
Overall, Washington's tax revenues are just 24.8 percent of GDP, according to data gathered by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. That's the lowest level of taxation for any developed nation, and the third lowest among 34 nations tracked by the OECD, with only Mexico and Chile having lower levels. In most of Europe, taxes are at least 35 percent of GDP. In Canada, they're 31 percent; in Australia, 26 percent.

Here's how the tax burden breaks down by different categories, as a percentage of GDP:

Income tax payments: U.S.: 9.8 percent; OECD average: 11.4 percent

Taxes on goods and services: U.S.: 4.5 percent; OECD average: 10.7 percent (The higher OECD number is due to a value-added tax, or national sales tax, in many countries.)

Social Security taxes: U.S.: 6.6 percent; OECD average: 9.2 percent

Taxes on property: U.S.: 3.3 percent; OECD average: 1.8 percent

And, that's worked for Europe, correct?

The difference is that we see the current administration wants us to take us in the direction of Europe. And we all see the European experiment has failed. We are not there yet, but we are coming very close.

Mexico's economy could be better without state owned oil companies and drug violence.

In Chile, a person working around $60,000 a year would pay approximately an 18-19% tax rate. I'd say that's pretty good, and looking at their developing industry its building a middle class structure that's much larger than other western South American countries like Peru or Ecuador. However, their 45% high upper tax rate is holding them back.

Chile also has a 17% corporate tax rate. The U.S is at 35%. That's the killer.

I'm smelling a flat tax coming. IMO, the only sacred tax loop holes should be mortgage interest deduction and charitable giving. Business depreciation or expenses maybe. The American Dream is to own your own property, so im fine with that. charitable deductions are a no brainer because they provide goods and services in a better way or not at all But if we get to a point where everyone pays X amount and that's all, you will see it is more difficult to raise taxes.

There are reports surfacing that the CIA is beginning to 'turn' on the administration. Memos are starting to leak painting a bad picture for the administration.
My bold prediction is that Hillary will be the October Surprise and unload on the Administration before the election.

Really? Think about it. She was going to retire after the election and not serve a term. If Obama keeps pushing it will tarnish her image and legacy. And that's one thing the Clinton's can't stand. So if Obamakeeps trying to make her look bad, and he's losing, the Clinton's will strike. The are the masters of coming out on top of any FUBAR. Plus, politics are like crimes. Not saying we want to follow them. Although there are a few countries that would be doing well if they controlled their own currency.

I know a working person in the US who made $60k and paid an effective tax rate of 8.82% in 2011. I'd say that’s pretty good too.

No company pays an effective tax rate of 35% in the US.

I think our current rates are pretty good when compared to the rest of the world and while it would be great to cut the rates you can't do it responsibly and still find a way to balance the budget. Let’s leave the rates "as is" for now and getting the spending under control IMO.

Agree 100% on spending. I know the Purple Palace has had to cut back on expenditures until the revenue increased and 'investors' were paid. It's amazing what you can find to cut. My pet peeve is the 'Well it's only .xx of the total budget so it's no big deal'. Ugh. I hate that attitude

Instead of raising taxes, let's cut spending.

I pay 8% right now on what I make. I should be taxed at around 13%, but based on what I give to charity, plus dividend payments are tax free at my level, as well as long term capital gains, which are also tax free at my level. Also, I get all my state income tax back (although I don't get why). And after I graduate and obtain my degree, as well as finding a new church wherever I go, I'll eventually be paying a negative tax rate. Wouldn't it nice to be one of the 47%? :D But I know that latter part wasn't your point.

I agree with the Romney-Ryan proposal to end loopholes. However, and I emphasize however, no American, no matter how rich, should be forced to forfeit .35 out of every dollar. That's absurd. I like the 10%, 25% bracket proposal. Although I believe in a Fair Tax, I concede the 10%, 25% brackets are a step in the right direction. Romney-Ryan will get us there. Obama will only hurt the lower class more by raising their bottom rate from 10% to 15%.

if you don't understand why mitt romney paid 14% on his income and you paid "more" then you are a retard and should not be voting. just a thought. they show this ad every 10 seconds here.

and we should never be trying to recreate anything europe is doing. Comparing the USA to some Scandinavian nation with 4 million citizens and more moose than people is like comparing a riding lawn mower to a tractor trailer.

Hey, how come this tractor trailer uses so much gas? Same thing, right? Lawn tractor, tractor trailer, I don't understand economics. This isn't working.
