First off, that article would indicate that we are in the discussion based on context. Why race toward the potential negative outcome?

The only thing that keeps us from being an obvious choice would be the footprint concerns. Otherwise we might have already been invited. In the meantime, nothing is going to happen until at least the first of the year and likely not until springtime. So we will just continue to watch & wait.

If it was certain that the Sunbelt was going to take 2 of those 3, I would be doing cartwheels. We may not be the best option out of the 3, but I see the other 2 as redundant. It's like PS3, Xbox, and Wii with us being the Wii. Everybody has a Wii.

One would think the Presidents would want a conference championship game. Would raise the profile of the league. Have it on a Wednesday night in prime time similar to the MAC.

The MAC Championship game is on Friday before the Pac-12 Championship game. It has been for a few years now.

That can't be possible. The first Pac-12 Championship game was last year.

Probably nothing to this ... but still interesting ..... Dan Cathy is a Georgia Southern University alumni, Chick-fil-A is a HUGE NCAA sponsor, Liberty shares Dan's personal Biblical view and APP State was one of the few schools that pushed back against the liberal tide to kick Chick-fil-A off their campus.

The MAC Championship game has been on Friday night for years. It's been Friday night at least since it moved to Ford Field in 2003. There is nobody playing a conference championship on a Wednesday.

the Sun Belt could possibly go to the Big South and try and lure Liberty, a school that geographically fits and has an enrollment of 12,000+, to join the conference. Considering that Liberty has been a pretty good football school as of late and could boost their profits at the FBS level, I don't see why not.

So should not knowing the difference between San Diego State and San Jose State haha:
Boise State and San Jose State will learn quickly that they'll lose tons of money in the Big East due to traveling concerns and flight costs. When that happens (which will be within the first few years), they'll want out of the Big East (another fledging football conference) and into the Pac-12 (which would be renamed the Pac-14 under this). Not only are these 2 schools great in terms of football, but they could retain their Big West status for other sports

San Jose State? haha I missed that. Who could screw that up. Seriously.

I do see the Boise-SDSU thing, but if it's not being discussed its no use pretending that it is.

Ironically enough, for my NCAA Football 13 season I put Nevada (my team), UNLV, Boise State, and San Diego State and created the PAC 16 out of that. Not that it will ever happen, nor does anyone really care :D

And its time for the ECU to Big East rumors to begin swirling again:
Liberty Bowl exec Steve Ehrhart said in radio interview today that East Carolina is being considered with BYU & Air Force for Big East #14 .

— Brandon Helwig (@UCFSports) October 17, 2012

If this is true, it would appear to be the answer to the Pirates’ prayers. East Carolina has made no secret of its interest in the Big East, and it applied for membership last year.

But … it would mean Old Dominion would have lost its biggest Conference USA rival even before it had a chance to become a rival. The Monarchs will play eight C-USA teams in 2014 and be eligible for the conference title in 2015.

ODU practically bends over backwards to avoid scheduling LU in football. Unless we get an invite to C-USA (longshot Im guessing), they arent exactly going to beat down our door to schedule us for anything outside of baseball

The inclusion of Charlotte & ODU helps solidify our position in the CUSA footprint. Nothing is completely out of the realm of possibilities.

If CUSA loses ECU, I see them going after MTSU before taking another program that's looking to move up. If they were looking for another FCS program that's trying to move up, I think Appalachian State and Georgia Southern would be higher up on their wish list before Liberty.
