The frustrating part is that we have yet to be truly beaten by anyone yet. We have beaten ourselves with turnovers. Take a glance at the stats above. We simply need for our young QBs to learn how to hang onto the ball. Obviously that is little consolation as we sit on this 0-4 record for two weeks until Homecoming.

It's tempting Haize.

I don't blame Woodrum. He's young, made a few mistakes, but overall he did a good job managing the game. Of course, Hudson isn't terrible either. I still am just amazed how this continues to happen. The coaching was just awful. And I don't mean anyone in particular. The running game was excellent , and we passed when it mattered most. A big 3'rd down for the defense, and we line it up in some goofy punt block formation. Just... unbelievable.

I share your frustration in those 2 situations. But, there is more to coaching then play calling. Just remember you can't snap your fingers and magically have a talented experienced cohesive team.

I'm not sure we blame the coach when our players mess up. Lehigh is solid. We throw 2 picks, 1 for 6 and 1 for a 1st and goal. Not coaches fault. Our corner (Fogg, I think) loses his man and gets burned for a huge first down on a 3rd and 20- for a time their our secondary got chewed up. The only thing I blame coaching for mostly is the penalties, and there were a couple in the first half that really killed drives. Oh well... we still have BS to play and I think we'll do fine in conference. Stoney Brook seemed like a juggernaut until tonight, barely squeaking by Colgate.

One other thing I'd question the coaches on was that wacked out flea-flicker reverse fumblerooskie attempt- or whatever that was we tried on third down in the first half. The pass attempt on the conversion, well we shouldn't had to attempt it. A Lehigh fan made a comment on AGS about how badly Fogg got burned on that play in the second Q.

Yeah our players definitely didn't do all they could do how many penalty yards did we give up? How many broken coverages? Or the two picks can't be blamed on the coaches. I know your frustrated but that was an ugly game from many perspectives. Also since when did throwing for a 2pt conversion become taboo? I thought that was a valid call.

Had we not had great success in gaining 3 and 4 yards per rush in the Red Zone on the prior possession you'd be right

In 2004 Liberty lost to a #24 ranked Lehigh team 34-16 at home in front of a little over 9,000 fans.

Today LU lost to a #13 ranked Lehigh at home 28-26 in front of a little over 17,000 fans.

LU has made progress. But LU still has't learned how to win the big game.

That 3rd down play changed the game...force Lehigh to punt there and I yhink the flames win.

On the other hand, you do have to give some props to the defense. Lehigh is up 14-0 and the defense holds on 4th and inches...the offense is motivated and a game that could've been a blowout is tied at the half.

At least the team doesn't give up. It should be an interesting to see how conference play goes. I kinda wish the Concord game was before conference play...the team needs a confidence builder. They've got two weeks to prepare for Gardner Webb.

Should be a festive time up your way in two weeks. At least we got a nice check for nearly $475,000 today for playing Pitt. We are in full rebuild mode, but I'm still giving Dickerson at least another year to really show improvement in the win column.

I disagree about Woodrum. I think he is playing extremely well for a redshirt freshman. He makes 2-3 errors a game and they have been critical, the 2nd int was a little behind the WR but it was batted up. He steps up to avoid pressure and made some very nice throws down the field. He's not the biggest problem (MB turned the ball over even more than this years QB's last year). I just think the prospect of a 4 year starter with this much talent is worth a few more mistakes. I mean were already 0-4 and we will lose to CCU or SBU if not both.

That QB rushing touchdown is the MOST embarassing play i have ever seen executed against any team at any level ever. The only thing worse would be to run to the wrong end zone. That was just a horrific play call at such a crucial time. There was virtually no speed on the field at all for that play, any type of play to the edge would have been a big gainer (It's like a goaline defense on Madden and you sweep to the edge and it's an easy TD. Again, i agree with JBock, that is almost demotion worthy.

Penalties, unbelievable how this team has gotten worse each week in terms of penalties, that has to be a reflection of poor coachign and/or leadership. I will say there was a blatant hold that was not called by the officials on the long TD that fogg was burned for. Our Left end (whoever it was) was held for 5 yards or else he would have buried the QB or made it impossible to throw the ball far enough for the completion, either way we didn't deserve to win.

Finally, playcalling and clock managment is just abysmal. Reverse's almost never work and the risk reward just isn't worth it. Why in the world do you try to run the clock out on the last drive knowing that if you don't get the 2 pt conversion your done! We blew a crucial timeout because we can't get the play call in time that would have been vital had we actually ran a hurry up offense. I'd need to see the replay but i dont think we had more than 1 receiver that we sent out that was even in the end zone for the 2 pt conversion. You simply cannot expect to pick it up if you dont even send someone in the end zone...mind boggling. Give the QB a chance, at worst throw it up for grabs and give it a chance rather than throw it short so the wr will be pummelled nad have to take on 4 guys to get in the end zone.

4 weeks in, i become less impressed with this staff each week and the kansas situation begins to looks more and more like it wasn't a farce. I mean it's been almost a year since a TG coached team has won a game!!! That's mind boggling.

Penalties out of control. How many false starts did we have???
The 3rd down call was embarrassing.
I like the QB.

Why wasn't Fogg returning punts?

Not sure what is more frustrating, knowing that no we are rebuilding/reloading and losing or the way we are losing??? Some of you folks are worried about CCU & SBU, the way we are shooting ourselves in the foot I wouldn't look past anyone..

Been a long month since the Wake game. :( :(

Coaches coach and players play, however if the discipline, talent and intensity isn’t there you’re going to be on the losing side game all the time. Granted, Coach Gill on the sidelines appears to be placid and exiting as wet paint drying on the wall…but I’m sure that he and his staff did everything to have the team prepared for Lehigh. However preparation will never work if the players DO NOT follow the script and execute the plays on offense or blow their defensive assignments on passing downs. the team as a whole played with a lazy mentality and shot themselves in the foot. The positives are the plays at running back and everything else was below average at best. There is no “true” leader on this team, and there is no “I’m gonna step neck for 4 quarters mentality”, but more importantly there is a lack of maturity.
Woodrum will continue to have interceptions (i.e. two or better) due to the fact that he consistently stares down his primary receivers the pass plays that save him are the quick-outs, and bubble screens. Sorry but I can’t drink the Kool-Aid from this kid. The tight-end plays were serviceable and wide-receivers grade out with a D-. Will this team be better next year absolutely, but until next year comes just drink a lot of Pepto-Bismol, because this season ain’t gonna be pretty.

I would ask this, is there a true offensive PLAYMAKER on this team, PK seems more like a great possession guy than a playmaker, #83 Ferguson can go deep but does not draw any comparisons to Chris Summers of go and get it type of WR.

Defense is solid but looks like they are very hesitant to really want to gamble and make plays on the defensive side of the ball. Fogg at times but his bread and butter is probably gonna be at returning kicks, no other run stoppers besides #45 at the backer spot, always taught to me that if the lb sees a down block from the tackle or TE then step up and fill.

Way to many procedure penalties, im not sure how you can blame that on coaches, im sure in practice something is said about them, but how or why its transalating on game day the way it does is crazy.

Hard fought game that could have gone either way. This team doesn't quit. I love watching John Lunsford kick. What a leg!

I think they are prepared for conference play and Stony Brook looked beatable today.
