Clint was indeed odd but brilliant! The convention needed a bit of un-scripted spontaneity. I am sure no one vetted his speech prior but it was still a classic that will go down in the books of political history. Even though it looked as though someone forgot to wake him up from his nap 5 minutes earlier, the presentation of the empty chair was an artistic presentation which I believe was one of the best political satires I have seen. Clint is an actor by profession so could we expect any different from him. I personally never expected he would simply stand there and give a talking speech. The main stream media certainly was speechless!

I thought Andrea Mitchell of NBC, was going to run out of the booth, down to the convention floor and strangle him, screaming “your ruining it, us media/Hollywood types are not suppose to follow him, what you doing!”

I think 'odd but brilliant' is a good description. I thought the empty chair was very clever. I don't think there was much of a script. I think he just had some thing he wanted to say and said them. What was interesting was his tone and how it sort of echoed the theme of the convention. For the most part he portrayed a sense of disappointment more then anger. I liked when he told 'Obama" No I'm not gonna shut up, it's my turn to speak. Also when he said Obama was a nice man, or maybe not do nice considering the ads he's run recently.
You could tell he REALLYdidnt want to end with Go ahead, make my day, but he's an actor and you have to give the audience what it wants

I thought it was appropiate that Clint was speaking to an empty chair. I said when Obama was running in 2008, he was an empty suit.

Anybody who thought it was weird or embarrassing can't be familiar with Bob Newhart stand up. I thought he was just doing his take on a Newhart bit.

The teleprompter meme lost steam a long time ago, so Clint took it upon himself to give us a fresh one. Twitter's going crazy with people posting pictures of empty chairs as Obama.

Nice way to discriminate against the aged. Unless of course you and he go to the same doctor for your meds!

I hadn't watched any of the RNC but when flipping through the channels I saw Clint was up on stage. He drew me in. He is old and crazy but man that was so entertaining...

Marco Rubio kept me tuned in longer...then Mitt Romney bored me after 2 seconds and I couldn't take him seriously. I would vote for crazy, old Clint Eastwood way before voting for Mitt Romney
