He also cought 4 passes for 34 yards, but the Jags lost 34-17, as Arian Foster ran for 180 yards for the Texans. I think it's safe to say now that Rashad has proven he is an NFL back. With Jones-Drew starting to be more injury prone this year I think Jacksonville will want to keep Rashad and give him more carries next year.

Hurt his knee in a preseason game. Couldn't find any more specific info. Praying for a complete recovery. Rashad is an outstanding representative for our school.

Loving this. Standing for his faith and livin right. http://bit.ly/PelJzf
"When opportunities are there to lower the boom on the field, you lower the boom, get those four ugly yards and move the chains," said Jennings. "The only thing I see right now is getting in a cold tub and getting ready for tomorrow. When [Jones-Drew] comes back, I'm going to hug him, jump on him, be excited, and play whatever role is asked of me.

"Things will take care of itself how it's supposed to. I do everything on my end and let God do his work."

Rashad Jennings is different, all right. And in a very good way.

I know some "experts" including Matthew Berry from ESPN have him as a top 20 fantasy pick if MJD holds out or gets traded.

Great Article on Jacksonville.com today. Also a big pic of Rashad on the front of the sports section.

As Maurice Jones-Drew’s holdout reached its 33rd day, Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey said for the first time Monday that Rashad Jennings will open the regular season as the starting running back.

“Again, Rashad Jennings is going in as the starter. I don’t know how that came out being any different,” Mularkey said.

Meanwhile, Mularkey seems to have a lot of confidence in Jennings, who has carried 36 times in the preseason for 176 yards, an average of 4.9 yards a carry. His longest run was 17 yards. Jennings spent last year on the injured reserve list after suffering a knee injury in the third preseason game.

“I think he can be a really good football player. A really good back. From what I’ve seen on tape before I got here and what I’ve seen in person, I’d say we’ll be OK,” Mularkey said.

He said Jennings has vision and is “faster than you think.”

Mularkey said Jennings has a knack of getting yards after first contact.

“There’s a couple of plays I saw four or five yards that were made after he was hit, so that is a positive. That’s in the box or outside the box. He’s a physical runner,” Mularkey said.

Jennings started his college career at Pittsburgh but transferred to Liberty after his freshman year to be closer to home because his father was ill. Jennings rushed for 4,044 yards in his college career.

Rashad will make a quality starter on that team, but has anybody else thought he's looked a little slow? He may just be waiting for the holes to develop but this whole preseason I just haven't seen any kind of burst. That's not something I ever thought when he was at LU.

So, does this mean Rashad started rising in fantasy drafts?

Heck, even if MJD returns soon, he could pull a Chris Johnson and be out of shape and perform poorly for the first month back.

He was the second most added player on Yahoo when I logged in to work on pre-draft rankings this week.

I got him in the 14th round of a 16-round draft I did a couple of nights ago. Surprised that somebody didn't grab him sooner, including me. I might even start him opening game.

We recently had a chance to catch up with Rashad. http://www.libertyflamesnation.com/2012 ... ncing.html

I love this quote:
When asked what his pitch would be to a young recruit about his alma mater, he replied "Liberty is diverse, it has a solid foundation, great education, and it helps you grow in more aspects than just football...And...because I went there (laughing)."
