I've never understood the whole "China calling in their debt" thing. It's not like they have a giant magnet that will suck all of the dollar bills out of our pockets at a whim. Or they'll suddenly own the washington monument. The last thing they want is for anything to happen to our economy so they DONT get their money back.

These things happen when the DC establishment runs your campaign. It's pathetic, and it's exactly why I did not vote for Romney in the primary.

I agree with you skywalker.

That article is also hilarious in how many times Tapper asserts that it's "out of context".

He sounds like he's running a campaign.
#396949
I don't see what the issue is here... First off - Jake Tapper's an idiot for trying to say the quote was taken out of context. Let's try it this way - Fine, we will let the little tiny snippet where Obama says he was referring to the 'roads and bridges' in saying that businesses didn't build that. It's all still wrong. All of us know that businesses do build roads and bridges... not the Federal Government. If businesses don't pay their taxes, if they don't employ people who also pay taxes; then roads and bridges don't get built. The whole argument is asinine.

Finally, I'm failing to see the gaff here by the Romney campaign. Are you trying to say it's because he took some government loans previously?

Wait, so, are you saying you want Romney to beat Obama in the election?

No im saying it would be nice if he actually changed him on something real instead of a quote or something like that. Maybe attack him on some of his policies (but avoid the policies that Romney helped him create).

Ryan will cost Romney the 45-54 year old "working class" vote. His plan will cost them to much and it's to late in life for many of them to fund a plan B.

http://roadmap.republicans.budget.house ... sueID=8520

""The payment is adjusted to reflect medical inflation, and pegged to income, with low-income individuals receiving greater support. The plan also provides risk adjustment, so those with greater medical needs receive a higher payment.""

Pegged to income. What that says is, if you work hard your whole life and build up a little nest egg, when you get sick in old age you are called on to spend it before receiving benefits. Fair enough, But the guy down the road who refused to work more than a week or two per year gets everything paid for. Once again we are creating an incentive for people to not work. 51% have already figured that out .... that's why we are in this mess?

There's no doubt Ryan's plan needs some work, but it's nice to see a Republican who isn't afraid of his own shadow. I don't think it was the best pick, but it was still a good one.

Personally I could care less about Medicare... I'm going to be responsible and pay my medical bills. I do share your frustration though.

I also disagree that it will cost him votes. I don't see how it makes much of a difference.

Nice one, Mittens.

It was funny to watch the staffers surround Mitt after he walked off stage, "Hey you forgot to say Vice!"

I'd actually rather have Ryan be president over Mittens anyway! :D

My wife woke me up this morning telling me Romney chose Ron Paul as his VP candidate... I'm like, no way he would have done that. Went to the computer and saw it was Paul Ryan :)

Man would have that been a surprise...

Paul Ryan is chairman of the House budget committee, who put forth a budget proposal for FY 2013 that had a deficit of 833 Billion dollars and only had a chance to be a balanced budget by the year 2030.

Paul Ryan once said,
I am the budget chairman. I am a Republican. I am a conservative. I have been pointing out the big flaws of all of the taxing and the spending that has been going on around here
and yet voted for Bushcare (Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003), The Bank Bailouts, No child left behind, and a host of other big government programs.

Paul Ryan's record on war and intervention abroad includes:
-Voting YES on authorizing military force in Iraq. (Oct 2002)
-Voting YES on emergency $78B for war in Iraq & Afghanistan. (Apr 2003)
-Voting YES on declaring Iraq part of War on Terror with no exit date. (Jun 2006)
-Voting NO on redeploying US troops out of Iraq starting in 90 days. (May 2007)

Also, Paul Ryan's record on civil liberties includes voting to allow the president to indefinitely detain American citizens without trial, when not assassinating them via drones. (NDAA 2012)

Conclusion: On the biggest budget issues, Ryan spends more than a drunken sailor! He is a Pro-War Big Government Republican.

Everybody uses Medicare its for old people I think your confusing Medicare with Medicaid which is for low income. Two different programs and Medicare is literally your only option once you reach NRA, unless you're able to pay all your medical bills out of pocket when you're in your 70s and 80s. If thats the case than well done :clapping

Going up against a prototypical one-term President, the GOP decides to completely punt the election and allow Obama a 2nd term. This election will be Reagan-Mondale proportions with Mittens playing the role of dear old Walter.

I didn't get it confused. I know what I'm talking about.

If you don't pay for your own medical bills, who should?

Who else would you like? You and I both know Ron Paul wasn't going to get it. He's not perfect, but it's a step in the right direction.

Great choice. It really does draw a clear distinction between the two Candidates. Thebiggest positives are that Romney finally has someone who can go out and tout Romney success. Mitt is just not good at blowing his own horn. Secondly, he has a great articulate attack dog. He will lead the 'counter attack' squad of the campaign. Next, he has an incredible grasp of the budget and what will work. He will handle that like a champ. He also has experience working the hallways of Congress. He has shown that he can craft a piece of legislation with the help of other members of the House to move the discussion forward. More then can be said for another Congressman from Texas who ran for President and will remain nameless :D
I know that the vaunted Ryan budget still left us with the possibility of a deficit. But we don't even HAVEa budget at the moment. And considering we are running 1 trillion deficits now, the size of even the static projections of Ryan's budget look good. Again, my philosophy is that you have to catch the run away train before you slow it down and have it change directions.
Plus if there is one person Obama hates more then Romney.....it's Ryan! Let the fun begin. Romney/Ryan 2012,2016. Ryan/Paul 2020-, 2024

This pick does nothing for me. I still am not sure who I will vote for. I know it won't be Obama, but I am unsure if I could vote for this ticket with a clean conscious.

He didn't directly say me. I added it for emphasis cause it was clear he meant me.

Plus, since he's always bragging about how smarter and educated he is, I pointed out he misspelled a word just for the fun of it. :D
